Got cab back today--some shots of top of dash--took second shot with a paint paddle installed in front of riser to show how much angle of dash has changed from stock--in stock belair top of the opening is touching paint paddle--in other words --the face of dash is normally flat --that's what the pain was all about --getting the angle i wanted sitting in truck!! Anyone want to guess what else has to happen?? Yep I have to back-cut and tweak $300 worth of new bezels--not for the faint of heart but got 2 have the look!!!............jim

Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"
Looking awesome! Love that angle!
|
Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"

Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"
Jim... I am having the same problem with the oil pan hitting the rack. Did you find a resolution for this? I shimmed the rack out about an 1/8" and it looks like it should be fine. but it is still really close. Nate said he is going to try and send me new plates for the motor mounts to lift the motor another 1/8" or so.

Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"
This thing is coming together real nice!
keep up the hard work. |

Well been doin' honey dews but got 6 liter and 4l80 detailed and reinstalled for mockup with new f-body pan-Must say that this pan definitely gives the clearance I needed for dropmember -Got a call into Nate to see if I can lower this another 3/4" with different mounts or different truss supports--big azz 4l80 needs all the lowering it can stand-any more than 3-4* drop in this motor and it looks "nose high" to me --The intakes for these motors don't have any "rake" in them like small blocks do in the carb mount flange-so every thing on top of motor sits down in rear (or "tilted" down in rear)-Just trying to get used to that (Old school here!!)
Anyway-got this thing painted to have a "machined" look (don't pay attention to crank pulley-it's leavin") --New satin nickel color from gm-with flattened clear--Although I wanted it flatter but I was experimenting with additives!! Ls6 intake coming this week along with new rearend from Moser-Is it just me or are any of ya'll having problems with outside help--Tried getting rearend work out of guy and after getting stalled about 2 months-just bit the bullet and ordered what I needed-will sell the stock rear on here later!!..ok rant over .....have a good week...........jim |

Well got spindles, hubs, rotors, and tie rods ends installed--took last two pics to show something funny--U got a 44 year old frame--Nates dropmember-Me bubble leveling the frame-mount the spindles and "WALAH"--Put the digital angle finder on them and there both 88.3*.......how both sides can end up like that is crazy ......my luck they would have been off 5*.....lol..........jim

Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"
2012 gm accent color---WA733J.....ppg# 301371......Don't raze me that the 6.0 looks crooked--It's loose in front waiting on new mounts!!.....:sexy::sexy:

Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"
Very nice quality build. Love that paint color and thanks for sharing. Curious which Vintage Air unit you used that tucked up so nice under your dash. Also, I see you are using the 14 inch Corvette front rotors. What is your disc brake solution for the rear? I have been looking into the Wilwood but trying to find a more economical solution.

Re: 68 aka "Chained in Porterbuilt Prison"
I totally agree with the product and customer service from Tobin at Kore 3. I put him on the top of my list and will recommend him also.

Well---My man Nate came thru again--just got these new truss bars which lower 6.0 by 3/4"--worked beautiful--All of this was to try to get the most clearance for big azz 4l80--Engine has f-body pan--clears back of rack by 1/16th to 1/8--This is a nice setup now--should be the same for all extreme dropmembers ----back of f-body crank pulley will clear front of rack--vintage air frontrunner should work well--will know shortly.......jim
