Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Happy New Year! I finally got some customer stuff out the door before the end of the year, and had a little time to work on my own stuff New Year's Eve. Did some systems tests on the passenger power window install and master switch, as well as the AM/FM Stereo MP3 conversion.

In the throes of wiring, I thought I would do a quick test of the Ron Francis reverse relay dome/courtesy light conversion for our trucks.

Thanks! I was able to get the bed back on the next day and double checked the rear wiring harness.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Looks good
Did you buy the windshield local? |
Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Cool truck

It's the windshield that came with the truck. I had a difficult time trying to find the door, vent, and back glass that matched the green tint. |
Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Vin, the green tint is AC glass.
At least that's what I call it. I had a small stash that I could have helped you out with at the time. I hope you bring that truck to one of Steve''s Pontiac get togethers.. Would love to "shake a hand, make a friend." I'm pushing to get mine done for the next one. |
Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
I ended up getting the door, vent, and back glass from a local auto glass business...probably the same supplier for the other mail order places.
oh, man, Steve would never let me in with a Chevy truck even before his snowboarding accident. I will keep you posted when I'm out your way - I have friends in the Phoenix area and I'm looking at buying some property in Prescott. Got the air suspension controls wired and plumbed...did a low pressure test. |
Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Steve has invited me on multiple occasions and said to bring my prostreet truck...
He knows I use Pontiac exclusively. I'm sure your truck would be welcome. She's a beauty AND has an improved drive train.. lol ;-) |
Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Air looks good..
I haven't had any luck running airsprings on anything with power.. Guess I'm stuck in the static coil over generation. .. |

Thanks! This is the last time he talked to or acknowledged me (the last Pontiac Heaven event at old Speedworld Dragstrip). If my truck was a GMC, he might let me in, but even then it would be questionable.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
All aftermarket pulleys and brackets?
Looks good. |
Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Thanks! Yeah, it's a March system that was given to me in exchange for some exhaust system welding I did for a friend after he decided to go with one of their newer systems

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Dadgum, that looks good. I love that dark green. It's absolutely beautiful

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
I have my motor ready to set in my C40 crew. I just need to find an affordable bell housing...
LOL.. BUT, I might just opt for the 4L85E instead. .. I think the Lil poncho I built for this truck will do nicely.. |

Funny you should mention the overdrive auto transmission. This (4L80e) is what is behind my Pontiac. I think with the transmission connected to the engine while installing it was approaching 900 lbs...doing it by myself was tougher than I remember.
|
Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
I got my 4L85E out of a 97 dually..
Has the bolt on yoke.. And they are indeed heavy.. Couldn't imagine trying to get it in with the cab and front clip on.. 😂 |

Got some plumbing done over the weekend. I'll get most of the front sheetmetal on next weekend, then back to wiring.

Well, that answers that...
I guess you have plenty of clearance... My 19.5s on my crew do not have that kind of clearance |

Did a little restoration to the headlamp buckets and they came back from powder coating yesterday, so I was able to assemble the grille for a test fit.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Sweet truck.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
I dont think I've seen a 62 Grille look that good before. Nice work. :)
|
Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Thanks! It's actually a 1963 grille. It took a lot of hammer and dolly work to get it somewhat straight. These things took a beating back in the day.

Re: Intro and Some Photos of my '63 Project
Ya I dont know why I said 62, I drink in the morning. :)
