A nice HOT Texas weekend has passed  and it didn't stop me from playin in the shop! I am at the stage of determining which way to go on my project and I have made a few decisions, now to draw it out on paper and plan some of the details. Progress was good, doesn't look like much but these things take time as we all know. And now the announcement, I had a phone conversation with a powder-coating company and tonight we will have a meeting at the shop so they can look at the project, they are looking to sponsor the powder-coating of the frame and suspension. I hope we come to a happy agreement that is best for both of us!!! Now for some pics!!!
I got the bottom of the posts cleaned up and rattled some primer on em. Attachment 1430525 Took the next step and closed the hole at the top and drilled my holes for the turn signal lights..........yes turn signal lights!!:metal: Attachment 1430526 Attachment 1430527 This is a mock-up of what I am looking to do with the dash, old Corvette style humps and deleting the defrost vents. Attachment 1430528 Cleaned up the shop and the inside of the truck so I can get started with console and c-notch cover mock up. Attachment 1430529 |

I wish I had more to update on, but time just didn't allow it. Ordered a bead roller and it should be delivered today, you can see my review on it and check out the product.
I have been wanting to do custom fabrication and I suppose this is a start. Borrowed a flange kit from a buddy and tried my hand at making these nifty little holes. Works pretty good, not sure what I would apply it to on my build. Attachment 1432593 My plasma cutter blew up this weekend, literally. It shook the shop!! LOL! Northern Tool took it back and refunded my $$ so I bought this one, it works great! Attachment 1432594 The rest of my weekend was spent trying to get this to look right. I know I have at least 60 hours in this stupid thing, but it didn't look right to me and now it does. Attachment 1432595 And another shot of the time hog. Attachment 1432596 Attachment 1432597 |
Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
Man I'm glad I didn't buy that plasma cutter now.
Get to practicing on that metal working, I might need you to make some stuff. :metal: |

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
Bummer about the plasma cutter. Sounds like you have already replaced it. I would like to get a plasma and bead roller for my shop too. They are valuable tools when it comes to metal work. Your blazer just keeps getting nicer! Are you going to do all the bodywork / paint too?

No updates for a reason!! I am secretly building secret stuff and trying to keep it secret. Progress has been moving along and there are a couple of things I can share! One of the things is that I am now sponsored by North Side Powdercoating and my frame will be coated at no cost to me!!! He will benefit from this.....trust me. I have already got him 4 other frames to do. :metal: And the pics is the second thing I can share!! I have to admit, this is a very time consuming mod right here. It came out really well on the driver side and the passenger side will be done this weekend. I slapped some bondo on the top and sanded it a little just to see what it would look like , more work will be needed.

I love what you did to the bed rail, nice touch making it wider and the same width all the way. Your metal skills are coming along very well sir. |
