Things line up great,

Re: NJ Suburban
Looking good. You got a nice fit on the rocker and quarter panel.

Re: NJ Suburban
Hey Paul I don't think that is how the paint booth filters go, but I could be wrong haha

Richard it’s tough keeping the garage warm so I set up 3 cheap box fans with the filters on them in the closed garage. When I’m done spraying I open the garage door about 2’ and set the same 3 fans blowing out and my 110,000 btu salamander heater blowing in. Surprisingly I get very little over spray inside. It’s almost ready for the rotisserie! Paul |
Re: NJ Suburban
Just messin with ya Paul, I know the struggles there. I have 2 3' chicken house fans mounted in the wall and have to run my 110, 150 and 210k salamanders to keep it decent enough while painting in the cold weather.
Have you set a timeline yet for when you think you will be done? |

Sandblasting booth all set!

That should work awesome. Be sure and wear a good paint respirator, not one of those cheapie dust masks. Looks like a pretty nice '52 or '53 Mercury hubcap you have there, or is it Oldsmobile? The more I look at it the more it looks like Olds. LockDoc |

I’m trying to figure out what is best to put on the bottom/underside of the body once it’s primed with epoxy primer.

Re: NJ Suburban
Sandblasting indoors is a bad idea. My positive pressure mask idea worked perfectly but I’ll be cleaning the abrasive dust out of my garage for years.

I've never tried it. I use the cabinet inside and my big pressurized blaster outside. The only problem is I can only do the bigger stuff when the weather is decent. LockDoc |

2 coats of epoxy primer!

Re: NJ Suburban
Looks great, I wish mine was that rust free. Did you decide what your going to undercoat with

I went with Al’s Liner a DIY bed liner for undercoating. It looks good but was kind of a pain to apply. It has a very short pot life that is greatly reduced if it is over mixed. How much rust are you looking at? Paul |

5 hours to make the “paint booth” 2 hours to spray the epoxy primer. Tomorrow the seam sealer goes in the drip rails and hopefully I’ll have time to apply the urethane primer too.
Stupid iPhone rotated the picture on me! |

SEM seam sealer looks good! Not sure if I put on too much. Decided to let it run into the seam and find it's own level instead of running my finger along it.
Sorry my computer just does not want to upload things right side up! |

I re worked the driver side wheel lip area and I’m pretty happy with the results. And once again the pictures are rotated. :fry:

Re: NJ Suburban
Paul
If you are taking pics with an iphone Rotate them on your computer and then save them as something else in a different file. From what i have read, even if you rotate and save back as the original file it will still default to the original picture Burb is coming along nicely Richard |

Re: NJ Suburban
It's been a while since I've posted. For the past 4 months I've been working on the drivers side panel between the drivers door and the wheelwell. It has been really kicking my butt. Yesterday I decided to sand off 4 months of body work and start over. I've got to make the metal straighter first.

Re: NJ Suburban
Man that sucks, Paul. I am just starting in on the heavy stuff on my panel and will have to do same repairs as this. I hope the new patches are better than what you described.

I retired from teaching 2 years ago and I'm busier than ever with a full time maintenance job and working around the house. No pictures worth sharing. They all look the same. A huge tub on a rotisserie with lots of grey primer on it. Thanks for the poke guys! Paul |

Wow last update was May! Holy crap!
The body work is probably 90% done and I'll finish it off when the body gets put back on the frame. Roof is ready for paint and that will happen after the body gets rolled outside and both the body and garage get a deep cleaning. Now all I have to do is settle on a paint brand! Paul |
