here's an oddball for ya... A Z84 Cheyenne Super?? Never saw that before! (A Z84 is a Cheyenne (or CST) and a Super is a YE9, normally). Maybe they do stuff different up in Oshawa. For what it's worth, the truck was indeed a Cheyenne - the only "super"-ism was in the name of the RPO, which was clearly incorrect. I do believe it was original - this was a truck I was looking at a while back.

Typical Western Canadian farm truck. 250 six cylinder, gauges with a
Turbo 400 and the optional wood floor box. Not too sure about the J63 brake shield option with drum brakes. Sorry about the poor picture quality. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: SPID Picture thread?
This is a great resource and I can understand not wanting to post a VIN. However if at all possible, those that do edit their pictures or cut off the top, it would be really appreciated if you would state the plant and model year. Chevy examples would be 2Z,1S or 9A. It helps me to track changes between years and plants.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
SS Tim, I posted one that's on page 6, it's post #148. I was wondering what the "Georgia Power Company" was? Did other utility companies have there own codes?

Could very well be that the AA code is for special paint though. |

Pretty normal truck, only thing that is weird thing is that the truck has a 14000lb gvw plate but has no options that say it should have it.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
It has the HO72 rear and and eight lug all around. The truck also has 18 in wheels which aren't listed. But it has the 18in spare listed.
Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: SPID Picture thread?
Then it was a 10K truck. The spare and carrier were options on chassis cabs with R05. It has the R05 included maker lamps though? If you look up the load chart in the drivers handbook you will see it requires the H22 option for the 14K capacity. Looks like the load plate was a missbuild. Have seen a few pickups with the incorrect 10K plate vs the correct 9K too. As unlikely as it is does your truck have a build sheet or Protect-O-Plate?
|
Re: SPID Picture thread?
Yea the misbuild makes sense, that gvw chart always is what got me. I wish I had the protecto plate or build sheet although I thought the never put them in the trucks, but I don't know every thing. I'm still confused as way they didn't list the 18in wheels as an option unless that was a misbuild to.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Well strange things happen. The 18" tire were a dual only size and that spare wheel RPO is not on my list. "...that gvw chart always is what got me." is there something I can help with?
|
Re: SPID Picture thread?
No I'm all good With the info you gave. The chart confused me because it said I need the 11000lb axle for the 14000lb gvw plate. But I didn't have that axle.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Now that I look at it more Q31 is the code for 18x5 wheels I wounder if it meant that it came equipped with them and had a spare.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Don't know what to say 7.00x18 8 ply tires were one of six dual only sizes in 67. They were RPO code R90. The Q31 code (found it...) was for a bare wheel only as was the custom.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
So does a factory cruise control set up show up on the SPID?
Also I remember some Air Force trucks at a junk yard in Monroe Washington in the 1980's (always short boxes or step sides for some reason) which had some real short SPID. Usually special order and maybe foam seat was on it. Bare basic trucks that were used and then some by the air base. |
Re: SPID Picture thread?
The SPID would show V30 for a factory, production line installed cruise control. But a GM accessory kit installed by the dealer would not.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Another for the collection. '71 GMC, purty plain :-)
By the way, what's up with the dark green glove box door and medium green body paint ? I've seen some medium green trucks here thave matching glove box. I am going to freshen my girl up and want it to be right. Just seems odd to have the different glove box in this instance, maybe just adding contrast.. http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/2151/gmcspid.jpg |

Thanks for pointing that out and you are correct as K01-L99 are engine range upc codes. Now I am trying to figure out where my V came from, hope it is just a typo.

No, while your truck does have the RPO Z62 Custom Comfort and Appearance package it did not include carpet. In your case black rubber floor matting is correct. If you have carpet it was added.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Ok, I have a question. Were white wall tires standard on any level of truck? I would think Cheyenne and Cheyenne Super, since all the old pics of them they seem to have them, but they're not listed. You see optional tire sizes often, but mine has H78x15 belted white for an optional tire. Is that an optional size, or just the white wall option? My truck is a Custom Deluxe.
|
Re: SPID Picture thread?
Both actually. The H78/15B tires were upgrade sizes and sometimes a required option dependng on how the truck was ordered. They were available as blackwall highway and/or on/off road tread and also as white stripe highway tread tires. The RPO PV6 you have is a set of five H78/15B bias belted white stripe highway tires.
As far as I know white stripe tires were not standard on any of these trucks nor at any trim level. However there may have been "specials" that included them but not the Inflation Fighter (YF7) nor the "Highlander Package" trucks (YG6,YG7 or YG8). BTW: Thanks for leaving the year and plant codes up. |
Re: SPID Picture thread?

Speaking of Inflation Fighters, here's my old dark blue one.
Also, I don't usually get too worried about posting VIN numbers on SPIDs, but the green one is my own personal truck, so I just blocked off the last part of it. I saw where you had asked for people to leave the first part and I didn't see any harm in that. This truck I don't have anymore, so you get the whole number. |

Here's mine. 72 BB 3/4 Sierra. Not the most optioned truck. But not bad. Interesting though they used the Cheyenne designation on the SPID.
