Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Looking good, I like the clean appearance of the single window. What are you doing for a mirror?
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Peep mirror... not my first choice but for now that's what I'm planning on. Might change it later not sure.

Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Looking good Nick . Sorry if i was out of it when you called , working long hours @night right now .
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
No problem. Feel free to give me a call though, I went to nights in March, 10p-6a.
With the help of a friend I've been making little progress with the wiring. He's been teaching me as he does the wiring. |
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Nick, learn all you can.... I may need the help

Ok, I finally got some more work done. It's no longer a single-legged chicken. I installed the posi unit I bought from a board member. It's was awesome and super easy. Thanks Raland for cleaning the unit up before I got it from you. I had never changed one out before so a good friend helped me out. Here's a few pictures of before and after.
Tomorrow I hope to finish up the wiring and install the speaker and radio. I'll post more pictures as soon as I do. |
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Nice progress Nick!
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Thanks Heath. I think I just need to finish wiring, drive shaft and brake to make it drivable.

I may want to borrow your dash control idea, as that is the vintage air controller we will be going with..... |

Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Ok Heath... You've been making me look bad with all your progress. Today I actually did something. The fuel lines are completely finished. I got the rear drums installed. I installed new everything on the rear brakes, springs, pads, drums (I even painted them gloss black), wheel cylinders, etc. I also finished installing the lights. I wasn't a fan of the clear taillight lenses but, I found a good deal locally on a set for only $10 so I figured I'd see how they look with my LED tail/brake lights. THEY LOOK AWESOME!!! I haven't turned the truck over since I broke the cam in back around November of 2008. I have the wiring almost finished so I had to test the ignition today, so I turned it over again. Talk about motivation... it started right up no hesitation...WOW!!!! It sounds sooo good!!! I'll post some pictures shortly.

Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Did you ever get the tailgate skin installed?

Ok, here's a few pictures I just took. I have not installed the tailgate panel yet. The tail light picture is just the tail light (not brake) and reverse light. The fuel line had to be ran on top of the frame due to my exhaust being ran inside the frame. I had ordered a vintage air kit with servo controls. MEKDAD was able to take an idea I had and make it happen with the A/C control panel. If you look behind the motor down low there are two bulkhead with braided lines connected to them. One is going to be connected to the top of the intake the other to the right side of the tranny near the dipstick. All of my wiring to the engine and starter are ran through the lines. Its a work in progress but coming together.

Re: Finally seeing some progress...
time for me to subscribe to follow the process. About to go through several of these same steps myself. truck is looking really nice. Braver than me tackling the gears!!!
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Nick,
you flew past me along time ago bro! Truck is moving right along, execellent work... Since you are the wiring king now, i need to send my sons '67 to you when the time is right! Keep up the great work, and you will be driving her in no time! |
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Heck I didn't have the time nor the patience to do the wiring. I got to watch and lend a helping hand here and there but a friend of mine that works at a local Chevy dealer did the work. We were up late last night and he has a little more to do and he'll be finished. I've pretty much decided not to put the one piece windows in. I'm tired of trying to line them up. I think I'm just going to get some vents and go with the stock look.
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Nick,
Sorry to hear about the windows, but i feel your pain, i am still not satisfied with the 1 piece windows in my '56 . I need to find a friend like that  |

|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Thanks nuke. The window kit looks really good and is awesome, as long as it's installed by someone else.

Re: Finally seeing some progress...
More pictures... I set the seat in and bolted it through one of the original holes on each side. It's going to get mounted soon, when it goes to the upholstery shop to get the floor carpet, tank carpet, custom kick panel carpet covers, custom door panels made and installed.
The motor pictures are my new valve covers my wife surprised me with for my birthday. They came from pmlcovers.net, AKA Moe's Performance. I picked up the air cleaner from O'Reilly's and just set it on top for the picture. I need to do the throttle linkage before I mount it for good. Slowly getting there. Ok... is it me or is the picture attachment function not working? |
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
It's not working. Photobucket linked works but the attachments aren't right now.
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...

The truck will really be slowing now.... Last Thursday, October 22 , at 6:19 PM we have a new addition to the family. Our new daughter, Madison Lynn, joined us very healthy, weighing 7 pounds and 12 ounces. She was 19 inches long.
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Congratulations on your new daughter. I really like the seats and valve covers!!!
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
Looking at the valve covers; what provision do they have for breather/pcv/oil fill
|
Re: Finally seeing some progress...
They're machined on the top of each side above the "C" area. It's a flush fitting breather plug, PCV has the hole and grommet, I just haven't finished the rest.
