How do you score these sweet deals? I would have gladly, drove up to Tulsa and picke this combo up. Of course, if I had known it was for sale and cheap enough for my no buck project....Looks great after the detail job. The Cod Fish will run like a champ with this powerplant! |
Re: Project Cod Fish
on this particular combo it was timing...rob was ready to buy "now", so it wasnt to bad finding the combo, but got real lucky to find such a low mileage engine...we were literally about 15hrs to late on getting a 5.7 LS1, we had at the shop...the thing is when a good deal comes along you have to pounce on it, cause if you dont the next guy will, and rob was ready.

Re: Project Cod Fish
Awesome build. Can't wait to see more.

Re: Project Cod Fish
a bit of an update, the engine/tranny are completed.... the wiring is finished...computer is tuned...only thing left to do is fab a gas pedal mount, and mod the pedal to fit in the stock location...here are a few pics, sorry bout the garage being a mess, i got like 500 boxes in the past couple of weeks...

Well motor will be here on the 31st so looks like I will be spending new years installing it body is out for paint so just been working on the frame getting brakes ran, and installing my wheels I have decided to run the boss 338 wheels.... I did not have issues with diameter of front hub but I did have to space for the cap to fit spacer or not I think they look great.
|
Re: Project Cod Fish
Those wheels are Awesome! What size and how deep did you have to go to buy them? I would to get some like that.:metal:
|
Re: Project Cod Fish
The wheels were 1400.00 with tires.... they are 18 x 8....
|
Re: Project Cod Fish
Looks great man. Really like those wheels on there...still thinking about them in 20X10 rear/20X8.5 front in chrome like yours for my project...

|
Re: Project Cod Fish
sheet metal is painted and at painters....... waiting on the fuel tank so I can plumb that in before sheetmetal goes on.... I ordered it from boyd and he said it may not ship till after new years...... this thing should come together pretty fast after that.

I am very pleased with the ECE crossmember and engine mounts...... this was a very easy install...... can't thank you enough Don for the good work on the engine...... Can't wait to hear it run.....
I am gonna run a Trailblazer a/c... I think maybe Don will chime in on what he sent. |

also a side note to anyone thinking of switching to a TB style from the truck ones, the mounting bracket is diffrent (but will mount to the engine with the same holes), and the electrical connector is diffrent as well. |
Re: Project Cod Fish
you get the cab installed yet? any more progress reports?:)
|
Re: Project Cod Fish
Sorry to say I haven't got any progress to report..... Been workin my butt off. Work has been good so gotta keep the boys rollin so I will have money for my toys.... Hope to get drive shaft and exhaust done this week...... Then the fun will begin....

Re: Project Cod Fish
Nice build. I love the 5.3's. I'm pulling my 2005 5.3 which I had in my 96 S10 Blazer for over 2 years to put in my 68 C20. You did a great job of detailing your engine. Now i've got more work after seeing how nice yours came out with a little paint. Did you clear coat the intake or just clean and shine it. Looks real shiny in the pics. Great build and an inspiration to get moving alittle faster on mine. Thanks. Jim.
|
Re: Project Cod Fish
It was painted then cleared.... I got the engine from 68 step he did a great job detailing it...... Thanks cant wait to get it back together.....
|
Re: Project Cod Fish
Rob, what trans mount did you use? My salvage yard 4L60 came with a rubber mount but it only has 1 stud. The pics I have seen of the ece trans crossmember show two holes
similar to the oem trans mount. Thank you. |
