Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

Thanks for the good words.

Just to be clear. What you bought is not a hydroboost mounting plate. You decided you did not want one. What you bought is a '67-'72 booster bracket.

Thanks for posting pics of your installation.....looks good. Would you mind posting some info on the hydroboost and master you purchased? I know that the proportioning valve is the Wilwood 260-11179.

Thanks... yeah it was all bought as a Wilwood kit on ebay. The plate that comes on it lined right up with the mounting bracket I got from you. Worked like a dream. Didn't have to do anything but bolt it all up.

What is your price for the direct mount plate, in bare steel, like the one you made for Curtb1971?

Thanks,

I would like the same bracket but with mounting holes and black powder coat will be paired with a 2012 2500 Silverado unit.

CaptainFab-

I got an 85 K20 that I'm converting to a manual trans & hydro-boost. I'm having a hell of a time finding a pedal assembly for such that doesn't cost a fortune. Locating a manual/vacuum version seems to be much easier (and cheaper!). So, I'm thinking I'll first convert it to manual clutch/vacuum (its currently auto/vacuum) and then use your bracket to convert it over to hydroboost.

Am I understanding this right? You have a bracket that properly re-positions the hydro-boost unit to replace the vacuum unit? Does this correct the geometry difference in the pin height on the brake pedal? Any mods needed to the pushrod?

Thank you in advance,
Mike

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

I do not make any booster brackets or hydroboost mounts for the square bodies. There is no need since factory components are readily available. I do not know what the hole pattern would be if the factory booster brackets were removed from the vacuum booster. Those are riveted to the booster.

The hydro boost plate that mounts to the firewall in pic above this post

Captainfab 07-06-2017 11:37 PM

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

That is not a regular production part. It was a special order for member Curtb1971. At the time I had a couple extra laser cut but I do not know if I have any left. I will have to look when I get top the shop tomorrow. You do realize that with this style you will have to open up the center hole to accommodate the nut on the hydroboost? Also this style does not lend itself very well to moving the pushrod attachment point on the pedal down 1"

Do you know what "size" the nut is for the H B unit?
Where can I find a new one ?

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

Are you talking about the large nut that secures the HB unit to the mounting plate?

Yes, what thread size is the nut?

Captainfab 09-11-2017 11:13 PM

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

I really don't know and I forgot to take a look at one today. I do not think it is a standard thread pitch. The factory nut is 4 sided and is thin.

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

Hey CaptainFab,
I saw you mention in one of your posts that this plate will work with your booster mounting brackets.

Does that mean it's compatible with the booster mounting bracket (i guess it's more of a kit) that you make for the trucks that use the original master cylinder for the brakes and the clutch?

Thanks!

Captainfab 03-08-2018 12:13 AM

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

To mount your 1999 hydroboost unit you will need this booster bracket and the hydroboost mounting plate in this thread. Then everything will bolt together. However you will have to lengthen the hydroboost pushrod. There are a few ways to go about that.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by 'booster mounting bracket that uses the original master cylinder for brakes and clutch". Are you talking about my '60-'62 booster bracket with the hydraulic clutch? This hydroboost mounting plate fits ALL of my booster brackets no matter what year of truck the booster bracket is for.

Yes. That's exactly what I meant.

Thanks for the response.

I have your bracket already so I believe that all I need is the plate for the hydro boost.

Captainfab 05-29-2018 11:28 PM

Re: Hydroboost Mounting Plates

Yes that is correct. I just wasn't sure if you already had one of my booster brackets.
