Re: AD Truck Project
The nicest thing about having the new projects and builds sections is you get to see builds you somehow missed. Good job man.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
Thanks, I have been following your build, looks great. I really have not done anything but trade some parts, and order parts heh.

Re: AD Truck Project
I guess it is better to take your time and build it like you truly want it. I am trying to do mine in sections so I can get it rolling faster. It will start out looking kinda warn but functional. Enjoy it and get it mechanically sound, then worry later about paint and all that.
The white late model crew cab is my daily. |

Re: AD Truck Project
Got the shipping notification. Should have my spindles on the 25th!. I wish I had planned better. Memorial day weekend would have been a good weekend to put the cross member on. We have some more work to do on my dads before we can try and get my truck in the shop.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
My spindles are out for delivery ahead of schedule. This may be the last decent update for a bit. I turned on my ac for the first time this year when I got back in town last night, and it is not behaving. I am going to try and take the rearend down to my folks on Sunday. I am hoping to at least get the rearend under the truck this weekend.

Re: AD Truck Project
horray for progress
|
Re: AD Truck Project
So.. would it be wrong if I put a spindles between the upper and lower arms and worked it up and down while making noises like I am hitting switches?

Re: AD Truck Project
and play the song lowrider by war with an awesome fedora.

Re: AD Truck Project
I can dig it. I think most of the truck guys would run me off if I was listening to anything I normally listen to lol.

Re: AD Truck Project
LOL... my crew cab valence has ended the life of a few unlucky possum. It barely clears a parking block, so a possum looking over its should has no chance lol.
I listen to everything but country. Mostly electronic music. And now to make this post Joe approved :P http://lh4.ggpht.com/_HLeOfaLeb9s/S_...2020.11.05.jpg |
Re: AD Truck Project

Re: AD Truck Project
man that makes me want to go ahed and buy drop spindles for the s10 front i got. looking good.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
Right on!!!
What bags are you gonna use....or did you already say that? |
Re: AD Truck Project
Sweet! :metal:
|
Re: AD Truck Project
For the front maybe slam re6's or re7's. From what I have read they have good lift with less pressure, so you can get to ride height but not be super stiff. I think the firestone 2600s are pretty similar too.
If anyone reading this has any opinions on what bags to use on an AD with a v8 and mustang II, please feel free to chime in. |
Re: AD Truck Project
I did not get my rearend moved down to my folks. I did get my other shock ext welded up on my crew cab, now I know that I definitely need new shocks lol.
This week I am going to take the leafs off my s-10 rear end to make it a bit easier to handle and take some measurements for the perches. If they are too narrow or far apart I will probably go ahead and cut them off before taking the rearend down. If anyone reading this knows.. how long are the stock rear leafs on a half ton AD? I am wondering if I can just use the s10 leafs to start with until later when I can do some sorta 4-link. |
Re: AD Truck Project
Worst case you can move the perches to where you need them to use the s10 leafs.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
Very true.

Re: AD Truck Project
Hey nice Avatar pic you have there ;)
|
Re: AD Truck Project
Imagine that lol. Get hit from all sides. No pics in your thread... there is a guy for that. No pics in your profile... there is a guy for that lol.

Re: AD Truck Project
 sorry Billy just have to keep you motivated ;)
Its been quiet in my threads so ive been slacking haha Any upcoming game plans for it? |
Re: AD Truck Project
It is all good.
No game plan at all right now. Gotta replace the outside unit of my central heat and air at home. That, kinda jacks up a lot of stuff. No idea when I could even get it in my dads shop right now to start getting the cross member on it. I keep getting the... oh few more things on my car first... response. |
Re: AD Truck Project
That sucks.. its going to set you back a bit too, well if you need help or a trailer to haul it over there let me know. |
Re: AD Truck Project
Covert opps would have already taken place to get it to my house, if I had suspension under it lol.
I think mac said he had a stock front axle. Maybe I can borrow it long enough to move it. |
Re: AD Truck Project
 yeah it makes it hard to move when it doesnt roll..
|
Re: AD Truck Project
yeah scott knows all about having to move trucks with no suspension under it at all hahahah hire him hes good help haha.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
:haha: and loading heavy arse motorcycles too!!
|
Re: AD Truck Project
I owe Scott bbq before I can ask him to do any work lol.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
yeah that was a killer. i still owe you a steak haha. billy let me know if you need a hand with anything moving or anything. i have an old 9 inch ford rear end that rolls maybe we could tack weld it good enough in place to at least make a roller.
|
Re: AD Truck Project
I was kinda thinking about doing something like that. I have the s10 rear end I could use out back, and then somehow out a rearend up front, just good enough for it roll.
Another option is we have a front crossmember out from under a 51ish chevy car that we could maybe tack or chain to the front of the frame. |

Re: AD Truck Project
I am tired of things setting me back on this truck, so I managed to get the rearend in my truck and taking it down to my folks. Who says a lowered truck can function as a real truck lol. Not sure If I can get it under the truck this weekend, but at least it is something small I can mark off the list. A bunch of small things eventually equal some real progess.... um right? :uhmk:
