Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!
There are some nice rides in this thread.
The title said trucks and cars. I don't have a tubbed truck but here are some pics of my old 1958 Corvette... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/phot...0011unload.jpg http://forums.corvetteforum.com/phot...158_at_TIR.jpg Someone said to post burnout pics. I don't have a burnout pic, but this is the aftermath of a too big burnout. lol http://forums.corvetteforum.com/phot...0011Smokey.jpg |

I could barely see the tree, but I staged and left anyway. I had to drive by looking out the window at the wall. I was just about to give up and get off the throttle because I was getting too fast to drive by looking at the wall. Then all the sudden (at about 100mph) whooooosh....it all cleared out at once and I stayed on the throttle. Don't think I wanna do that again. They said I left a trail of smoke all the way down the track. |

85_prairieboy - Do you still have the stock frame in the rear? What size slicks are those?
|
Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!
Yes its still the stock frame. There is about 1 inch on each side of the tires for clearance. Tires are 32x14. They measure 19 inches wide from sidewall to sidewall

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!
I hate to ask this question but I'm gonna anyways lol. Whats you guys experience driving in the rain? I'm not as naive as my question makes me sound lmao. I'm just on the fence wether or not to tub my '75. I need to be able to drive it year round though. I was looking at Mickey's SR's in 31x18.50. I was even thinking maybe I could get them siped?

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!
I drive mine year round on a daily basis. Used to run the Sportsman Pro 33 x 19.5 bias tires and would try to avoid getting out whenever there was any kind of moisture in the forecast. Never could get use to the rear always trying to to pass me. Finally switched to 31x18.5 Hoosier Pro Street radials and it's whole new experience. It still will try to get sideways at times tho. I just don't drive as fast when it is wet. Snow isn't bad but will not get on the ice. But in SW Oklahoma we don't get a whole lot of either. Since your going with the radials, myself I would say that you will be alright.

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!
I have been caught in the rain several times and it is dangerous.
JEGS High Performance: http://www.jegs.com/images/mini_100/...2/672-6565.jpg http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...itemPerPage=90 Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/faqs.php The Sportsman S/R maybe better in the rain due to the thread pattern. A wider tire is more susceptible to hydroplaning than is a narrower tire. So it's better to go slower. http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/i...an_sr_rear.jpg http://www.jegs.com/images/photos/60...672-6656_4.jpg http://www.jegs.com/i/Mickey+Thompson/672/6656/10002/-1 |
Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!
I emailed Mickey Thompson and they said "It was designed for rain, it'll be fine.". I can stand to slow down when it's raining just not to 20-30mph. I'm not even sure how many miles I'll be driving in actual rain, just want to be able to take it out when ever I want. I am trying to figure it out before I take the plunge, once I tubb it it will be hard to go back lol. Anyone run the SR's?
Thanks guys- John |

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!
Youre photoshop skills are awesome lol. These are from mickey thompson billet specialties also make 20x15. You will defenetly need to redo youre gears there are many factors to determine the correct gear ratio. I calculate I will run minimin 373 but if you really want to smoke roast these tires go with a 411
