That Suburban I picked up in California 4 years ago. Nice straight rust free mostly original paint truck. The V6 was seized up so I decided to put late model PS and disc brakes, dropped spindles along with a 400 SB and 200R4. I'm adding factory air to make it a little more comfortable. It will be a nice driver when done.Heres a couple pictures.

You are clear on the other side from where I was then.

You have an awesome herd of GM products, especially for back there!

Thanks for posting photos 60-66! This truck is exactly what this thread is all about! Beautiful time capsule of a '66 GMC. IMO, this '66 GMC has joined ranks with oem4me '66 Chevy, as the most original trucks in existance. EXcellent reference for someone doing a factory restoration ( wish there were more done up stock this way). I brought up the differences in GMC's before, and your truck proves my point. It has the blacked out area between hood scoops ( near hood latch) to look like one large hood scoop. Also black fender tubs found on GMC's built in Pontiac Michigan. I assume the firewall is fawn on your truck also. One request, please show a close up shot of the "Custom" emblem. If I am correct it is not all chrome, it should have red and white paint stripes below the "Custom" logo. In a world were most everything is modified for one reason or another, it is a treat to see a GMC looking the way it did in 1966.(except for that photo with the car style full wheel covers of course)

Here you go Factorystock. I shot a bunch of detail shots of the underhood of the red 66 GMC 18,000 mile truck. It has quite a few chalk markings on the firewall and even some on the underside of the hood. The firewall is mostly red but like you say the interior fawn color is there in places. Notice the shinny inner fenders and other black sheet metal, that's another GMC only thing. NOTHING under the hood has been repainted or changed from day one on this truck other than the horns and air conditioner. I haven't washed or detailed anything but a good careful cleaning needs to be done.

Great underhood shots 60-66!:metal: The closest thing to going back to the GMC dealership showroom in 1966.Priceless. This is an excellent reference for pursists like myself. Underhood shots are consistant with trucks built at the Pontiac Michigan assembly plant. It appears firewalls were painted fawn along with interiors, then the exterior color is oversprayed on top half of firewall only. I found a shot of a similar very low mileage GMC with the same Pontiac paint application, this case light green. Nice shot also of the "Custom" emblems with the original red and white stripes. The paint is usually worn off most trucks left out in the elements.Another thing that is amazing is finding such a pristine vehicle with such a long list of "hard to find" options. To top that off, GMC's are 6 times harder to find than Chevys in any condition. You have a terrific collection of gems. 60-66.

Not sure if this counts but it might be close. My recently acquired '65. Appears close to original with the known exceptions of paint, antenna and wheels/tires. Fellas father drove it in Brevard NC. First chance I'm puttin' steelies back on it.
Oh and I'm guessing the wood is not original to the bed. And the mirrors. I guess I'm going downhill fast here............:chevy:

67C10serch: you have a nice shorty there! Your mirrors might be stock. My c20 has that style mirror and they were original.

I also have a pontiac mi built 66 chev and it has a body color firewall. It still has the chalk too.

Yes, I'm aware this site is visited mostly by guys who prefer modified trucks, but it seems a pretty active bunch, and I know at least a few originality freaks are lurking.
So, sound off with the most incredible finds you've seen or heard of, and please post pics if you have them.
I'll start the thread going with my 66 C-10, 8900 mile barn find.

Very cool! Oh, and I park my rig and trailer in that lot at LAEC frequently for horse shows.

Reply to: 25x7p-3139968966@sale.craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Rebuilt factory 283ci that came with 4 bbl carb, rebuilt powerglide 2 speed trans, factory 3.73 posi rear, long bed, factory gauge pkg, original wood bed. Newly installed HEI ignition with wires, hugger headers because the ram horn manifolds finally cracked, all new dual exhaust, new tires, new starter, new battery and cables, air shocks and factory overload leaf springs. Had 2 bed gas tanks that have been removed due to non use and rusted. Has original brake system and no power steering. Complete truck, found the build sheet behind the seat. Rust through out, came from Washington St. I have non rusted hood, doors and tailgate to go with it. Everything on this truck works including a single stepside style backup light. I use this truck as a daily driver and Im looking to Trade for Chevy 60 - 66 long bed 6 cyl truck fleetside or stepside in similar condition. Otherwise make me an offer or other trade, if you need specific info write and ask just that. Low ballers need not waste my time, thats why my number isn't posted

Yes I still have the ones posted here, and few you have not seen yet. I still have the one I bought 20 years ago. A 65 4x4 with 17,000 miles from Silver City NM.It now has 33,000 miles because it was too much fun to drive.

Is the white that covers the entire center of the door panel correct? From post #218

I have a '66 that looks like the 1st pic. The 2nd pic is from #218. It is a '64
What about the steering wheel. Were they different each year, 4,5 & 6?

yes, that one is correct for '64 with both the raised area & recessed "ring" painted...'65 would have just the raised portion behind the window cranks & door handle painted....& '66 is just like yours with the "ring" outside the raised area painted....hope that makes sense
