Well Friday was a bit of a disaster...I spilled water in the engine bay removing plastic sheeting i had covered the car with while painting...It crossed everything up and stuff went haywire...Had to replace the wiper switch but after letting it dry over night fortunately all is back to normal... It was just weird...Blinker was on constantly with lights, lights would only turn on with blinker on and they would blink....So glad it was just wet wires that dried out
Well anyway after letting thing sit over night I reinstalled the guages, dash pad, and dash bezel to go to the car show/meet this weekend... Truck looks much better with it in but the gas gauge seems to be a little flaky... So still need to fix it... After the show I came home and order lumber from lowes and got my first hail in the truck to start building my workshop... Tired of working on parts in the open back porch and having all my crap in the spare bedroom.. So I built the outside wall today and tomorrow im going back to get the remaining wood to frame the rest and start putting everything in place Also....lifting a 16ft wall by yourself is rough!!!! |

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Yeah we had about 3 weeks of 100+ weather then a week of horrid storms and now we are having 95+ degree weather with heavy humidy... Its garbage....
Im pretty amped to get this workshop done though...I am going to insulate it...which will rock considering the house isnt...Stupid 1928 home |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
How's the build (shop/truck) :-) coming?
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
The truck is on hold... The inside is basically all done, just need to put a little paint on some interior parts and get a new headliner...
As of right now im going to focus on the shop... Im hoping to put up the 16ft wall this weekend and maybe the other wall as well... Sooner the shop is done the sooner I can get back to work on the truck and get all the truck parts out of my house lol |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Well while on my 6ft ladder I wiggled the corner of my 16ft wall wile adding a spacer plate and it came falling the **** down on the ladder...Luckily i jumped down and got under it to try to save it but the other side it the ground and smashed apart...Needless to say im coping with this by chasing shots of vodka with a screw driver

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
How was the car show last weekend? I really wanted to go but unfortunately had to work......sometimes I really hate my job.... I swear I'd quit if it was for the fact that that's how I fund the parts for my trucks lol.
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
It was ok, i didnt know anyone and there were no trucks like mine so i bailed after about an our and went to work on my shops... Were tons of trucks like yours though lol

Ill tell you for it only being me doing this work....16ft walls are death lol...Probably need to think things through better next time and make smaller walls lol
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Next time make an event out of it. Invite a few friends, buy some burgers/hot dogs and offer to feed and fellowship in exchange for a little bit of help getting the shop done.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Drove the truck to work yesterday and the exhaust hangers broke! So i ended up dragging it around part way to work...What part I dont know because I didnt notice until i got there.... Eitherway, I had a clothes hanger and a Fence tie that held it up until i got her home. Bought new hangers to install over the weekend...Sheesh...Rust Buckets

Well did a few things on the workshop to get it ready for plywood next week. Simple stuff like additional cement anchor screws and adding an inside corner 2x4 to connect inner plywood/drywall to.
Then on to the truck....Went and go some fastener for the door panels but was out of luck so i could only install one door panel and order the other fastener set. Had to modify the window cranks to make them fit but i got them to...Dont like how they hold on so im adding holes to these stupid cranks to make them more solid otherwise they just wobble a bit...stupid stupid design Also whats up with aftermarket door lock pins? 1/2" of screw and bam...your done...So now i have a 1/4" of screw showing at the bottom when unlocked? WTF!!!?!!! Now im going to have to cut off a 1/2" of that lock piece to make them fit nicely sheesh....Garbage |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I was looking at a set of window cranks like those on Ebay but not so sure i want them now they had them in plain, red and blue. Looked cool but if they wobble it will just drive me nuts.
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
well what it is they didnt fit..SO i had to grind them out....I should of secured it in place before installing the door panel so ill let you know how the other piece fits...Probably will be better...Ill let you know my results
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
:lol: I just got back from Auto-zone. I bought a pair of door lock knobs and the package says if they don't fit they want you to actually cut the factory door lock rod down 1/4 of a inch at a time till they fit!!!!!
Hopefully the ones I got are long enough. |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
yeah dont buy those cranks...pieces of ****

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
The ones I bought fit well, they are made of metal with a little bit of wood trim. When unlocked the bottom is still below the door panel.

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
well just brag why dont ya lol
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
These are replacing the ones I got from Classic industries. They were more expensive, made of plastic, were not threaded correctly, were to short and broke two days later.....
