I just stumbled across this thread. Sweet work guys. I'm pondering a LS swap. Where did you come across the motor?
We need to get all the Georgia boys together when you get this back on the road. |

Holley Fuel Pressure Regulator. This will have a new gauge mounted in the dash (Autometer 2174)
https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...38213539_o.jpg Here it is getting ready to get the exhaust installed. The goal here is for the exhaust to be tucked up in the frame area. Remember how the exhaust was hanging below the frame, even though I asked for it to be above it? Keep looking... https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...56526568_o.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...78784395_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...42619610_o.jpg Paul at Conyers Muffler putting in work... https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...29127189_o.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...54717097_o.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...67916842_o.jpg That @$$ looks good...I am hoping to introduce it to a lot of people this summer. LOL https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...17427565_o.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...10556088_o.jpg ^^Notched the frame to make clearance. We will be boxing all of this in shortly. So no worries there. The new air lines will also run on the passenger side. Getting rid of the DOT PVC stuff and going with hard lines for safety and security. https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...51508925_o.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...53062413_o.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...06143344_o.jpg Flowmaster 70 Series. https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...49668225_o.jpg |

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
We got to have some of Walt's nephews (Nate) get involved (actually we needed them because our arms and hands are just to big to get into the hole to remove the bulkhead -AN fittings.
https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...69213355_n.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...46355280_n.jpg Brandon got involved with the rabbit ears. Productive day overall (yes, exhaust and fuel system completed in this one day). Check out the pics below. http://https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.ne...50950374_o.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...02969213_o.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...96337320_o.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3161889_o.jpg The tank and lines are not secured yet - will secure the lines today (rearward), as well as secure the tank itself. It will be very secure as it will be boxed in right here. It is canted to the side a bit because we are needing to put on the top and ratchet it down (it has the rubber tank strips in there, so they are pushing it up a bit, but that will be fixed when we bolt it all down. It will be beautiful once done, and clear the bed floor. |
Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
Don't know if you guys noticed that little red thing under the passenger side header, but I got an MSD Hi-torque starter because the original starter to the truck would not work at all.
It is powdercoated red, and has billet aluminum on it....just a very pretty piece! https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...99828020_n.jpg |
Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
thanks Shawn and DND. Big shout out to Walt for really making this project fun and sharing the vision of excellence with me. We are hoping to fire this thing up in the next few days :)
Here is a rundown of what is left: -Run airlines -Replace outer/inner rocker panels -Replace floor on passenger and driver side -Finish firewall -Patch cowl -Replace bushings with the new Poly ones that came in and replace cab -Final prep of frame -Put her back together and have a party |

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
Productive day planned - but before I tell you about today, let me share with you what we completed yesterday! IT was a great day!
Fuel System is compete! Woohoo! So, all of this: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...41826615_o.jpg (and actually, a WHOLE lot more -6AN and -8AN fittings and hoses/aluminum line), and we are here: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...78626862_o.jpg Please remember that the wires that you see bundled up back here are from the cab and inside the engine compartment. None of these wires live back here, but they had to while the cab is off. |
Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
Today's tasks include:
https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...29766869_o.jpg Floor Pans https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...38664948_o.jpg Cowl and Firewall Shaving https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...82072511_o.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...91834028_o.jpg Inner and Outer Rocker Panels |
Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
Test fit cab on frame after the new modifications (FPR, trans/engine/exhaust). All fittings are good.
https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...86405056_o.jpg Energy Suspension (Poly) - for cab and core support https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...62351627_o.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...74454367_o.jpg Chrissy loves Dirty D https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...59702092_o.jpg The FPR Mount is not an issue. That and the AN fittings are unaffected. |

We also established my desired seating position, and I have a nice surprise in store for you guys... |
Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56
After floors are completed, we will clean the firewall and paint it.

Whatever color it is will be a flat or satin finish. My focus is on the underpinnings and drivetrain.
