I agree that Barrett Jackson, Frank, Mike and that Rick guy have all escalated prices on these items. Any thing cool now is out of reach for an average guy it seems. Just keep looking. I bought a 1954 National A64 pump un restored for under $500.00 in restorable condition. It may take some time but you can find these for an affordable price. Get on oldgas.com and you might get lucky there as well.

Take care friend,
Tom

Thanks for the compliment Tom!

I’ve found some pumps at an old abandoned gas station in a very small town 15 miles south of me. Made an offer to the elderly woman who owns the property and thought I had 2 of the 4 she has bought. But she got sentimental and backed out. She still has my info so maybe she will call me some day as I did make a standup offer. I’m still looking around and have friends looking too.

I like that National 64A - Is this what it will look like when you get it restored? Very cool. I’m kind of partial to the “Wayne” pumps (lol) models 70, 100a or 100b, but will settle on something else as long as they are cool, with patina, and at least 90% complete.

Flashed,

Not sure what you are asking. You wanting to find out what the pumps are worth for your friend? Or you wanting to make him an offer? Either way, get the make and model and go to the website Tom suggested – oldgas.com. You will find a great deal of information there.

You know what, you might ask your question on this site in the General Forums under Alternate Tinkerings too. I've seen some gas pump information in there before.

Good Luck!

Yes Wayne, That is my exact pump. I have actually talked with the owner of that pump. I don't recall his name but he is a member on the oldgas.com forums. He helped me a lot getting correct information on my pump.

I am working on it little by little getting it restored. I have a little different twist than the normal restoration. From the outside it will appear bone stock like the photo you posted but under the covers, it will be detailed like a custom show car ;) I will share photos when it gets done, when ever that may be.

Have a good weekend,
Tom

The painting is done. Only a few more little things and I can start moving my stuff in. Hope to get a compressor and lift before the end of the year. Got to save my beer cans.

Also included a window seat picture for Ogre....:sexy:

Looks really good Wayne!

Are you going to have an open house or cook out kind of event to celebrate your buildings completion?

Thanks Doug.

Funny you mention the cook out. My wife and I were talking about that last weekend. Thinking of throwing a cookout/party for the contractor and his crew as well as the sub-contractors (concrete and HVAC guys). ;)

We did that when our shop was built in 1968. Invited the workers and friends in for a cook out event. I was only 7 years old and still remember it. Wish I had pictures.

Finally got my compressor. Curtis/Toledo 7.5 hp, 80 gallon, 24 cfm at 175 psi. Will be doing the hard lines next year as the lift is next on my list.

I had wondered what was happening with your shop ,nice toys.

Thanks Flashed! It was a busy summer....son graduated the police academy, a new grand daughter, replaced ball joints on my wife's Expedition, and of course, really busy at work. I did get a lot of little things done to the shop but nothing exciting to share. The little things would have been boring, like watching paint dry.

I just reviewed some previous posts and saw where you had commented about my friends gas pumps .I forgot to ask him if he still has them ,probably does though as he and his wife have been traveling most of this year .Next time I talk to him I will see .He had started downsizing some cars and stuff after retirement and mentioned them to me .I bought one of his old trucks but really have no room for the gas pumps YET .

Nice choice for a compressor...that will move some air.
Looking forward to the lift going in.

Hey Doug –

I think I made a wise choice, at least it was educated…lol. I wanted to buy USA and had originally decided on a Quincy 5hp, 80 gallon, with 17 CFM at 175 psi.....then I found the Curtis/Toledo. I also found out a local compressor service business sells the C/T brand so I went for a “test drive”. I was really glad to be able to buy locally. I installed a regulator and an automatic drain since I posted the pictures. I’m very impressed with the machine so far.

I’m planning on ordering the lift next Tuesday. I hope to have it in place before Christmas.

I’ve been looking back at some older posts in this thread, funny how many times I’ve mentioned compressor and lift coming soon…….here it is almost a year later and it’s finally coming true….lol

we are a patient bunch, aren't we :D:D:D

my only thought is to build a room around it to keep the noise level down
looks like you already have 3 walls around it; add one wall and a roof and you'd be gold :D
mine is in a room under my stairs, makes conversation easy

Actually, the noise level with the compressor running is not bad at all in the open area of the building. Now when standing next to it is a different story but is still very tolerable.

I initially decided to run the automatic drain line inside the building into a bucket because I didn’t want to penetrate the shop wall any more than I had to . Boy was that a really, really bad move. The thing scared me and the dog almost to death every time it went off. I now have it plumbed to the outside of the building....what an incredible difference. And now the dog will come into the shop again. :sexy:

Re: Our new shop - AKA Barnasaurus

Poor dog! Which auto drain did you use Wayne? I don't have one yet for my new compressor and would be pretty nice.

Awesome Wayne! Congratulations! A lift was the best tool I ever put in my shop and I bet you will love yours.

Re: Our new shop - AKA Barnasaurus

Thanks Doug, I think you're right! Now I need to learn how to use it safely. I think there is going to be a small learning curve. The last lift I used was a single pole hydraulic rack in a gas station I worked at during high school.
