GMC 860 1960 Daycab Truck Diesel Rare Antique Vintage - $12500 (Shippensburg) (Link)
For sale!! Rare find in a 1960 GMC 860 truck. Been in inside storage for 41 years! Was driven and parked under its own power. We have not taken the opportunity to try and fire the 6-71 Detroit from its slumber yet. Trying to leave that grand event for the new owner! Once started, it is controlled by a 6853C Spicer transmission and a 2-speed rear end. Also has a "dummy" axle that was added when weight laws increased to 73,280. So it's a 3 axle truck. Has roof top AC unit that's in like new condition from being stored inside. Does have little rust on fenders from being professionally driven for 14 years in the elements from new. A rare, complete, intact project ready to pull your antiques to and from shows and events. Even comes with 4 new recap drive tires mounted and ready for installation. Has 5TH wheel but needs new bushings. CASH only. May consider partial motorcycle trade. Thanks!! |

(3) antique 1-1/2 ton grain trucks for sale, 1947 GMC, '50 & '54 Chevy - $2000 (Claude area) (Link)
I have for sale a vintage 1950 Chevy 1-1/2 ton grain truck for sale. Single axle, w/ duals. The truck is all there (i.e.: all compenents are present), but it's currently not in running condition. The material(s) in the bed (of the '50 model Chevy truck) do ~not~ go with the truck. (The bed itself goes with the truck, naturally....just not the stuff ~in~ the bed.) I do not have the title for this Chevy truck (nor the 1947 GMC), but I will provide a Bill of Sale. $2000 obo I would prefer a phone call, but will accept text messages. NO EMAIL! Note: ------ I also have a 1947 GMC truck, and a 1954 Chevy truck; each 1-1/2 ton grain truck(s); single axle w/duals. ***The 1954 Chevy has a recent engine rebuild, good paint job, a steel grain bed , a good hydraulic bed lift, & a title(!)....all the 1954 model needs is a battery & some gas, which I will get on Monday (05/16/2016). The original wood bed (that came on the 1954 Chevy) is currently on the '47 GMC. For those of you that would like to restore the 1954 Chevy to its' original condition, you'd probably want the OEM wood bed, as it's still in good shape (please see pics below of wooden bed). (In the pictures, the Chevy is the one that is ~ not~ yellow. The yellow one is the '47 GMC. Not pictured is my [shed-kept] 1954 Chevy (it is dark green in color, with a red metal grain bed-- [steel] 'sideboards' can be removed to make it a flatbed; 1954's engine has <1000 miles on a complete engine re-build/overhaul, updated/upgraded air filter (i.e.: "regular" air filter in lieu of oil-bath air filter), steel bed, and hydraulic lift). Thank you for viewing. |
Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Here is a hard to find one, '63 C 80 with 409 and air brakes. Large front fenders mean its the optional heavy duty front axle. https://northernwi.craigslist.org/cto/5625402968.html Maybe someone can lock in the photos before listing ends.

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Thanks for posting photos jumpsoffrock:metal: Haven't learned to do that just yet. When it comes to trucks, my philosophy is: the heavier the better. Just having air brakes ( hard to find in lower series trucks), eliminates the problem of the pesky hydraulic brake parts. If this truck had Budds ( west coast thing) I'd be serious about it. Maybe swap out the old low ratio gas rear end, with a higher ratio diesel rear end ( R 170) ?

Agree with above, I saved an ad' for a '67 box truck with that same paint color, was a 28K mi. ex-Navy base ride (only tooled around the base, hence the low mileage). Reno's close, if the shop were slower, I'd go take a look at that one for sure! Dang it (but NOT dang it also :D) Ugh, just noticed that this ad' is the one that had expired, but no phone info'. Haha, no worries!

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Interesting truck, but strange it only has a 4-Speed Trans. Between that and the Lighter Front Axle, I would say that it probably was originally a Single Axle, but still a cool truck in nice condition to boot.

Bill (anyone), is it me or is that second axle a tag axle? Are you identifying the front axle capacity by the Dayton wheel as opposed to the 10-lug budd I've seen from time to time? |
Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
One thing I just noticed is it only has one vent on the hood, when did they go dual vent?
|
Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
I'm sure it is a tag axle , I think hyd. brakes ,but not sure. I would also say it has a 366 with only one air vent, 427 had two, plus emblems that said 427

On the Front Axle, no not a Dayton to a 10-Lug Budd, but in this case, I'm going by the Narrow Fenders. The 4-Speed Trans, along with the Fenders and the possible Tag is what is making me question how it was originally. ...Just shootin the breeze here, lol. |
Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
My '69 has a 427 with dual vents... .It also has wider fenders and is spec'd pretty heavy....you can see it herehttps://flic.kr/s/aHsjtoJn2b
|
Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Ok so L6 and Small blocks got no vents, 366 got one and 427 have two?
I know where a single axle 427 tractor is. I might have have to snag the truck and use some its parts |

The inside pic shows a 2 speed spliter. That would make it a single axle truck w/a tag and in this case the rear is the tag axle. M&S tires on the front axle and steers tires on the rear axle would backup this theory.
A 427 truck will have 2 vents w/a 427 emblem towards the front of the vents. The passenger side vent was functional with the air cleaner getting air there. The pictures are of a 71 Custom C/60, 427, 5+4, twin screw truck w/air brakes. Other than a repaint and aux holes in the bumper for steps, this was a completely stock truck including the wheelbase. Note the aux driverside fuel tank. With both tanks, you could actually use the truck 8-9 hrs and not stop for fuel. Sorry for the crappy pictures, but these are scans of Polaroids take in 1985-6 time frame. It was still working daily at that time. |
