Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project

Up early, then headed out to Romford in Essex in Prozac.

Was headed to see SawdustSteve and wife Jenny to visit, see their cats, chickens and a new Spanish refugee....

Oh and I got to pick up a full load of cut pallets from Steve for my fire place.

More importantly it was great seeing good people again.

Refugee.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psju05yqqq.jpg

Looks a lot less than it is, and the rear sunk a bit.....

No action photos.

The van that can.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psd9tdlfxz.jpg

At about 11.15 I left Steve’s place and headed over to Henry’s place 15 minutes away.

Of course usually it is him visiting me and doing wiring etc.

Today it was my turn, no work done, just got to play with his best mate, a Siamese cat and try take in everything in his garage and shop.

He has bought himself a Project, and his wife loves it, NOT 😁

1990 Porsche 944 S 2

A former Press Car.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps62mgebj7.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszguhqbcm.jpg

Bought running and on the road, it did not take Henry long to start fixing and upgrading, a lot.

But of course if you see things like the Oil cooler......

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psemzg7wfq.jpg

And some of the muck that came out of the feeding duct, you will understand why he went down the slippery route of getting things right.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psoc9p7a9u.jpg

So soon it was Hubs, brakes, suspension, brake lines....

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrzj0rinm.jpg

Calipers

Before....

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrsvmmwzq.jpg

After.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psgnosmwux.jpg

Upgraded, rebuilt shocks.

Everything has been, and continues to be touched with Henry’s magic wand where perfection is the only way.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbndcwikz.jpg

It did not take long to go past 2.00pm with us talking shop, cars, bikes, vintage bench vices and everything inbetween.

So I needed to get home to work on the Blazer too, before dark, so coffee, biccies etc and then eventually homeward.

Another great day.

Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project

Sometimes things really do pee me off.

So I ordered a 1/2 inch spacer to get the air cleaner raised and fitted to the Holley carb in the Blazer.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqf2xh7dm.jpg

Ermmmm, Nope.

Too tight, just no way of fitting it.

Call in the side cutters, and duct tape.

After correcting it, the gap was about 2mm and I placed it where there was a metal wall.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psgx1kbpnb.jpg

Done.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvf2qv9pv.jpg

I will apologise in advance, but yesterday Harley was on one of her missions, holding tools, inspecting, approving and generally being an absolute pain in the butt. Certainly had the wind up her tail.

Kept on walking about the engine bay, despite me putting her on the ground repeatedly.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psgbo6yeb8.jpg

It was cold, and the wet and chill combined made me realise she is just mad for being out there.

Typically she to try out the perch.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrljk8llo.jpg

Settling on the edge while I fitted the PCV valve to the truck as well.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psotaqfuzh.jpg

So needed the latest bit of action on the Blazer.

Boy Rian, does that 944 bring back memories, I had a white 87. Drove like it was on rails,I loved that car. Very expensive to have worked on if you didn't have the special tools it takes.

Morning from a chilly UK today Rick, not as much as you guys get, but still chilly at -3’C outside.

Just headed for London to cover a training session for a colleague by train, so it gets chilly in the end.

I recall those Porsche’s from when I worked in South Africa, they were and really still are beauties.

Henry was quoting prices for parts, and most were more than I paid for Prozac the little van...... sure, it’s not a Porsche.

I continue to be amazed at this little car.

I started this thread to find out more on various forums and learned enough to decide to go look at the car today, after speaking to the seller who is the second owner only, having bought it a year ago from the first owner.........

Thread: http://retrorides.proboards.com/thre...tispace-bought

So this was the ad.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psxw8ae4re.png

2001 model Citroen Berlingo Multispace in 1400cc petrol guise. A rip snorting 75bhp from the factory.

This car came with a full length electric sunroof.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pso8xp5y6g.png

.

This is now the third time I am taxing this for the road, at £230.00 for the year, or under £1.00 per day, or certainly under a Dollad a day, it continues to be one of the most efficient tools on my drive.

Add to that the smiles per mile, minimal fuel usage from the 1.4 liter petrol engine, and I keep wondering why I keep looking at other options to replace it.

I seem to be a bit of a car whore when it comes to looking for the next good time. Which I still do, daily.

But right now, Prozac will continue to darken my drive with its all to familiar shadow.

And.....

For your amusement

This car came in for a silencer repair as it got a bit noisy.

Wonder if any other issues were addressed.

Yes, in South Africa.

Thought the Blazer had some issues.

Thank you Bill,

Prozac seems to be worth a lot more than into weight in road taxes.

You guys are pretty optimistic.

Not to forget, funny :mm:

First of the “Not a Project” stickers applied......

Yup, to Prozac’s rear screen.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psq8dmsynt.jpg

Half the pallets still in the rear as they need individual dismantling nail by nail, joint by joint.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psex3ppjgc.jpg

Parcel in the post this week, contents included two Stars n Stripes flags in shredded, Florida hurricane attacked state, plus some stickers and targets for my shooting, from Gary “Mr Zog”

Also some wheels for my work bag that my good friend Lee the lawyer had managed to get for me.

New and old.....

Loads of miles the last three years.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6xx3awx0.jpg

And the little carved stone bat I had seen in Hannibal in September on the USA road trip, same shop I met her at the time.

I should have bought it at the time.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pspqbuxluq.jpg

Love it.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssigzgolz.jpg

Went down to start the Blazer this morning, not started or moved it in 4weeks, seriously.

Pumped the throttle, then a few pumps while cranking it over and it fired right up.

Pretty impressed, had it running for a bit, looked at the vitals.

Buggerrrr.......

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psikq6kkhh.jpg

Not charging.

So the question will be: Belt need tightening, or alternator needing to be replaced.

Take a peep.

https://youtu.be/awf0hz1L3t4

Hope to get that sorted soon as well.

Not a Project is it.?

It still should charge with it loose like that. Have you checked it with a Volt meter? Maybe your gauge just went kaput.

The alternator has a shaft running through it. On the backside you will find that raised area, si? Whilst motor is running take care in placing a good wide blade screwdriver blade up against raised area and feel for a magnetic pull. The stronger the pull the better the unit is working. Of course a real tester should follow up this 1st step. How bright the headlamps?

Thank you gents.

Will try get to it today.

Not even started or driven the Blazer in 5 weeks.

Where does the time go to?

Been busy though, loads of random stuff that needed doing for the day job, year end performance reviews etc. So no time for toys or playing.

Also last Saturday over at @CraigRK to hang around and generally get under his feet while we sorted out his 17 year old sons first car, a 50k Miles VW Polo 1.0 liter in 3 door form.
Basically belts, fluids, plugs, brakes and anything else that could be done for a 60k mile service and the rest, in order to set him up with a reliable car, bought, insured and service paid for with the money from the sale of his 50cc motorbike. Way to go Kyle !! Craig gave him a spare 125cc from his stash to use now.

It needs a full size spare wheel as it is missing it, a seat release knob for passenger side and a few other tiny cosmetic bits.

And of course some free alloys, pity I gave the set I had stashed, away two years ago.

Hopefully a thread will follow soon from Craig or Kyle.

Need to complete the pallet disassembly and cutting up for fire wood, though not had a fire this year......

Then clean out Prozac on the inside and get onto the Blazer some time today, inbetween I need to do some shopping as well..

Had a lovely dinner date last night with a lady who lives 2.3 miles up the road. Random? Yes, it is, however.....

When a girl sends you pics like this.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslbbwr00t.jpg

Yesterday I collected a small parcel from the postal depot and when I got home, it had a note inside.

Sunday....

Fog, really thick fog, even at 11.00 it was still thick.

Started the Blazer up optimistically this morning, I continue to be amazed at just how willing and easy this truck is.

All the electrical seem to be back on track.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psg4uwn4lj.jpg

Washed it out front.

Parked up and headed into Rochester.

After our picnic on the harbour wall, we went home via Faversham to Mate Neil who was building an extension to his garage, and I got him to pull down one of the two little Turbos he will be fitting to his Chrysler Valiant V8 when he gets to that point.

A happy man for sure.

Morning Bill,

As mentioned elsewhere, to me it certainly is therapeutic so no chore.

Drove the Blazer yesterday....... Took Sally up to the farm in it, then cooked her dinner, BBQ.

Off to a Breakfast meet now in the Blazer.

Summer is coming.

And sooooooon enough I will be landing in Denver, Colorado and heading down to St Louis, and then up to Iowa, Illinois and Arkansas to name a few.

Craig and I do hope to meet some or any guys on here, along the way.

Well, you all know there is a lot of randomness in my posts, usually no rhyme or reason.

Took the Blazer out for a nice drive yesterday, and took Sally along.

She drives a modern daily, a Corsa, so typically well planted, secure suspension, her comment was “It is rather wafty the way it cruises like a ship”

Made me chuckle.

I do enjoy taking pics of this truck Sally seemed to be in on it all.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssikqbt2i.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psycyt0twq.jpg

Wind was pumping......

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psopxqgtvp.jpg

I do love this truck as well, differently, but just like Prozac, it makes me happy.

I actually have spontaneous laughs.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbzt3q4x5.jpg

We ended up on the farm on the way home and Sally tried a selfie with both of us, so I had to photobomb it with my eternally present camera.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psn771vvcz.jpg

Back home I rewarded her for putting up with me, and also for having told me a couple of times the last three weeks to get my finger out when summer comes and start working on my ‘66 C10 bodywork in order to restart all I let go of three years ago when Nicola left.
Our divorce came through last week as well, after the courts had lost our paperwork previously.
So my life can now get back on track, a different track, but a track nonetheless

First BBQ of the year.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps8gtr4szh.jpg

Steak and Sausage supplies by Thörsten from Germany, chicken and pointed peppers and coleslaw from Aldi.

It was a good one.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfhc4su6u.jpg

For desert, Sally made us bananas with chocolate buttons slipped into sliced gaps, wrapped in foil, put on the slow side of the fire, and after 15 minutes, served with squirt cream.

Sublime.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psodt9ietq.jpg

And HARLEY STARWALKER.

Well, second Sunday, every month, regardless of how many weeks in the month, the Kent Breakfast Meeting is held at the Woodman in IDE Hill, Sevenoaks.

All American cars, regardless of age or style is what it is about.

Sometimes an odd non American slips in....

The pub is family owned, and they facilitate meetings for various car, bike and other clubs.

Details below, because they are worth it.

So I headed out at 08.15 in the Blazer and a mile from home I pulled over for the first photo.

One of the nice things about this meeting is that everyone talks, inside and out in the cold.

Some leave earlier as they have families, and other things to deal with.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pseql0l2vo.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7dmftblc.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psizxdvthf.jpg

I headed out by 11.30 as I wanted to pop in at friends Kevin and Theresa’s place, and also to see if Paul was working on his Mercedes Benz.

This has been lowered, modded to an inch of its life.

He and his son are building another one with a V8.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4r7k3hlp.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psaiittsgj.jpg

Real gas stop today, spent £50.00 to get the tank just over 1/2 full.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmlkhqwky.jpg

Gas prices for our various neighbors in America, Russia and Australia to compare with whatever you are paying.

Price is pence per liter.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjuzahytj.jpg

Eventually got home and found that the wind that has been blowing at gale force today, had broken a pillar and thrown to fence panels down the road,
Thankfully my company car was parked over the road, or else it could have had some damage.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psgal4onil.jpg

So came to an end, a great weekend

Thanks Bill,

Yes, Sally is true salt of the earth.

A few inside photos I missed out posting.

Food gets brought out from the kitchen, names shouted by server, and then you collect your plate.

Perfect, while we all stand around, drink bottomless coffee and chat.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuloo8obl.jpg

Bathrooms are exemplary, clean works for me.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssjxrxhdq.jpg

A different part, it is a very large place.

And of course, loads of parking outside.

Well worth the visit.

Plymouth, one of my personal WANT cars.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslmfth3ql.jpg

Kyle, being a 17 year old, is constantly growing, so food is paramount.....

At least he looked after us too.

Hot, cinnamon donuts were perfect in the chill of the day.

Cock shot truck.

Loads of stuff not photographed.

But pretty certain you get the drift.

Great seeing good, and old friends.

Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project

Right.....

Now we get to the money shots.

What I bought, and what I needed are not the same thing.

First item, gas pedal.

I would love to have a few cast in aluminium (Oklahoma anyone??)

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pssjzxri2o.jpg

My costliest crazy purchase of the day......

Seller wanted £50.00

I wanted it, so sent the “Pit Bull Terrier” back in with an offer of £30.00

Guess who won.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psq5ah3oku.jpg

This will either be a drop down bench seat at my deck, or it may become a backseats to a bench on the deck.

Now just need a Chevrolet badge to replace to one that was removed.

Love the detail on this piece, picked it up and wanted it.

Asked the vendor for a price........ “Take it, it’s yours” he replied.

Free.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pssnbvayz2.jpg

After cleaning.

I plan to add something else to it, and fitting it to the Blazer.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psloewpnkk.jpg

Late afternoon, that is 2.30pm the traders must have been cold and tired.

More stuff I do not need.

£3.00 bought these very cute espresso cups and four skull valve caps.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9kebs3r9.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pst173b3fw.jpg

A useful tool, keyhole saw for £1.00

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psljzkqyc8.jpg

A box of screwdrivers.......

£5.00

I only wanted two of them.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslkqprepf.jpg

Same seller.....

£5.00 for this socket set, Would be rude not to buy them, unused, perfect for Sally’s shed as she has no tools, her sons usually bring tools when she needs stuff to be fixed.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuckbqifi.jpg

Door lock knobs for the Blazer £1.00

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps5jityjoy.jpg

Door mounted mirror, love these, have no use for it, but felt the need to just own it.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psnywird32.jpg

Another Blazer item, stainless tip, from an Audi according to seller, part a bundle Craig negotiated for £4.00

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmmhrrul2.jpg

Same seller.

Just coz I liked it, for my garage and part of my number plate collection.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pswuhydfsc.jpg

So that concluded my day out with Craig and Kyle.

Came home, Big Mike met us all and delivered the two chairs for the deck, we all chatted for another hour.

Then I went over to Sally for a Roast Chicken dinner, with all the trimmings, including pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puddings.

Knackered and back killing me.....

Life is good.

Quick n Dirty.

Tailgate cleaned up, scoured with ammonia based household cleaner.

Hosed down.

It will work.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pszww0wxrr.jpg

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfhspwvhe.jpg

Door lock pins removed, replaced with 8 Ball items.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psxgro2mpx.jpg

Yup, I like that.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmvbdqsmq.jpg

Stainless Steel tailpipe tip, offered up, it will work. £4.00 well spent.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pspalihfwp.jpg

Old painters paint and brush box I had for years, awaiting its role.....

Filled with a selection of the screwdrivers from Swapmeet for Sally, as she only had 4 cheap Wilkinson’s items.

What £5.00 bought.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pslkqprepf.jpg

Her share.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psiibkhrim.jpg

Of course you need stickers on there.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvwyeqksb.jpg

Yup, she likes it.

Also have given her the socket set to take home and put in her shed, in case I need to fix anything.
