The prep took me several days, but I was too cheap to have it sandblasted. Took it down to bare metal with knotted wire cups on a 4 inch grinder. Kept soaking it down with WD40 just to see if it would help break up the surface rust. It seemed to help quite a bit (wear coveralls, it gets you really messy) plus kept the dust down. The only place I couldn't get to with the knotted wire cups was around the rear cross member on the inside of the frame. I used some rust converter there, not sure of the brand. It shined up nice but it took me a total of about 20 hours. I bathed it in laquer thinner before priming. alaska gasser, yah know, I've never been a fan of AD's chopped but I'm kinda digging this. Def different and its got that saltflat lookin rake to it. You got a build thread?
|
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I started a build thread last night. I am not a big fan of flat chops on these either, but saw one with an angle chop years ago and liked the extra attitude it had. Here is a better shot of the new roof line.
