I was under the truck making a lost of some of the rust I would like to attend too, and I saw both my cab corners have this nifty flap screwed on both sides. Has to have been on a while, has clutch head screws holding them on.

Finally was able to drive mine out of his bedroom he's been in for the last 15 years with a temp kidney . Made several trips around in the yard and gave him a good rinse off. :gmc:

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
once again failed to install a pulley. a simple pulley!! this will be week number two trying to install a simple waterpump pulley. I got the correct pulley from speedway but its going to require a small spacer to get the belts lined up. I had a fan spacer but it was a little to long. using some welding rod as a strait edge I measured with the long spacer on. the pulley was off by 23/64. it was a 1inch spacer so by my math I need a 0.65 spacer to line up. im not sure what sizes fan spacers come in but im going to start my search. after some searching im not finding a .65 spacer. the closest I can find is a .5 spacer with a shim kit that nets me .68 total. it would be a lot easier to cut my 1 inch spacer down but i don't have a way to make a clean flat cut and i don't want my fan wobbling around.

Today I finished up bleeding the brakes then spent time replacing the pickup coil in the distributor. Hard to believe it stopped working after 28 years. Pulled the truck out of the barn for the first time in two years and spent three hours cleaning the exterior. Tomorrow, hopefully, I will begin the work of cleaning up the remains of the mouse tenancy.

Welllllll, I'm not a compressor expert but I think these broken flapper valves may be one of the problems with my compressor! I found them for only $25 including shipping, hope I can get them pretty fast. I sat out there tonight looking at the cab wondering what in the living hell can I do without a compressor! I have one small project, but I will do it, hopefully something else will come to me.
Of course, I can put the thing back together and use it with the one valve I guess, that's what I have been doing the last number of months. Brian |

It's not whether you have seen one, I never have either. But look how it fits, what are the odds something randomly would fit there, or if someone made it to go there, why?
Then look at how it's condition is exactly the same as the cab in that area, so it has aged and been exposed exactly the same, that means it was on there from the birth of the cab. The clutch heads, NO-ONE reused those clutch heads, they were tossed and phillips or a bolt or something was put there, NO-ONE reused those clutch heads. Those suckers were installed at the factory. Well I have my cab corners in the mail and thought I'd better do some more prep. Got my wire wheel and removed all the bondo. I pulled out some bondo from the inside passenger corner, big chunks of it.

Those are gravel deflectors. They were available from the factory or as a dealer add-on. I bought a set but never used them. The installation instructions can be found on page 567 of the factory assembly manual. |

The Boss took our 2 younguns on a trip for the weekend- so I had some shop time. Finally installed the Pertronix unit I bought a year or so ago. Had to look up the directions to make sure I got the right paper in the box- positive ground still mixes me up..
Also, pulled my “new” 9’ box off the parts chassis I just got. Pulled the fenders off and hit that area with a flap wheel. I’d like to congratulate whoever’s grandpa learned how to gas weld the fenders to the running boards.. Let me tell you- nine feet is a lot of box. She’s a loooong dog. |
Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
So the next thing I have to do, regardless of the compressor, I need to remove my work bench at the front of the garage and some shelves at the back so the truck will fit in there.
I had an old drill press that I used literally twice in the last ten years I have owned it. Then a grinder bolted to the bench that I have NEVER used. Then a paint shaker that I used once in a while but lived 13 in my shop never having one, so I obviously can live without it. I put a listing on Craigslist for the drill, shaker and grinder and an hour after posting it, it's all gone, wild! Brian |

Made a makeshift storage rack for my spare parts. I had a ton of parts stored in the bed in a lasagna style. So this way I can stack parts up on the upper frame and still access the stuff in my bed. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1840/...e6d7ceb9_k.jpgIMG_3797 by Andrew Bushnell, on Flickr
