I thought that was the coolest emblem. The knuckleheads driving all these Ford pickups today wouldn't know it if they saw it. Never seen one with that sticker on the window.
Yesterday I saw the coolest thing. All through my life, through my childhood, I have spent time in the mountain town where my mother grew up. The visions of '50s-'60s Big Job and Super Duty Ford trucks are most vivid from up there. Logging and coal mostly. So many were red, and back then they way a truck got dressed up was with accent painting. Maybe some chrome touches, but a little paint went a long way. The diamonds and chevrons on bumpers were about safety as much as decorative. Well anyway... yesterday I was up there in the opposite end of the county I've not been through much. My son was driving. I was looking down at this farm as we passed and behind a building I spotted a faded red '58 (I believe) big Ford tandem dump. Straight out of my memories. What tough trucks! We came back a different way, so didn't get a picture. I won't forget seeing that one. Now I need to go back. I'd sure like to talk to that farmer about that truck. Probably hauled coal with it back in the day. Not many of those around. Certainly not pictures on the internet. I just tried. A '58 Tonka big Mike will have to do |

This must have been one of those trucks special-K ! It seems Tonka and Nylint were very fond of these year trucks too!

That's it. I only got a glance, so may have had an egg crate grille. But '58 is my favorite grille, so that may be influencing my memory. Thanks for the picture. Nylint must have had licensing from Ford. Their trucks were actual replicas, said "Ford" on them and actual emblems.
I don't recall ever seeing this LCF version before |

We've been skipping over White throughout this thread. They don't seem to get a lot of respect they deserve. They kind of became the cheap fleet truck poster child, dime a dozen nothin' special. AND, a zillion of them out there! They were also the symbol of the big dog buying up other companies, up until they became the one bought. Well, Australian had a fondness for Whites not seen much in the US, some here did doll a truck or two up, but mostly I really enjoy seeing the old cheap fleet dime a dozen Whites wearing the now extinct trucking company livery. I also always had a soft spot for the White Mustangs. When I was a kid in the '60s I knew trucks a bit. I would see one a say, "Look, there's a White Mustang", and the other kids for scan all around and say, "Where? I don't see any Mustangs". Then I'd say, "That orange one. Allied Moving Co"
Not all 4000s were named Mustangs. I'm not sure how that went |

I appreciate the thank yous you all. I enjoy doing this and having this place to come look as much as anyone. I had that little conversation with myself a few posts back because I'd like to know if those Fords were their LCF offering at that time. I sure don't remember seeing those, but that's not saying much .
I guess with diesel power coming on the radiators had to get bigger |

Just picked up this medium heavy hauler, 2009 c7500, 7.8l inline 6 Isuzu diesel, Allison 3000 5 speed, 12' gooseneck bed, only 28,000 miles.
Was a back up water truck for Monsanto down in Texas near the border. The seats look like they've never been sat on. Just completed all the maintenance and had to bust out the Sawzall on that stack  |

That GMC is a really nice unit. Great find! I've always like those Internationals. I don't think I've ever seen those body panels on one before. Both trucks are stand outs.

I talked to the owner of this neat little rig in Topeka last weekend. He bought it new in 73 and put 3 million miles on it. He sold it to a guy who did this conversion on it. I think the guy hauled a race boat with it. He bought it back and tows his Stock Eliminator pickup with it. I can't remember what it's powered with now but we were talking about tire speed ratings. He said (Speed ratings? I've been 125mph in this one). |
