The project looks great! BTW It looks like you haave a 72 driver side door (screw hole by vent window). I have had to do the opposite in the past and cut and welded a patch with the screw when using 68-71 doors on a 72 |

George,
Windshields seem to be the one area lots of people have issues with, and there are lots of threads with good information. Here are a few that I've bookmarked for my own reference: Windshield seal won't suck up Window rubber Installing Windshield Windshield gasket blues: Precision supplies Steele and possibly Soff Seal (another) Window Seals Question (Need Help) For those brave windshield installers.... rear window install windshield rubbers ? installing windshield trim That should keep you up reading for a while! |

Re: 1968
Today, I tried to find a hood for a 67/68 but no luck. ( Local crais list.) I hope to find one and repair it before I paint the color on the truck.

Re: 1968
Today it was 26 and I think I will move to Florida. This is northern weather.

Re: 1968
Too bad you are so far. I have a 67/8 hood that looks decent ( it is in primer though!)

Re: 1968
Today, I recieved some parts. Not much but at least it was some.
2 head light pig tails 4 clearance side light pig tails. still waiting for the pig tail for the distributor and the seal for the rear window. Saturday, I will be pulling my 3.73 out and installing a 3.08. Or just putting it on the shelf untill I get a 700R4 transmission. I have two 3.73's and I am trading one for a 3.08. I am going to keep one of the 3.73 for insurance, just in case I need one in the future. Never hurts to have a extra one laying around. Parts never eat so that is a good thing. But I striped apart three trucks to make one good one this last year. |
Re: 1968
It's real cold up here. 5 degrees at sunrise this morning. More in store for next week, too. Stay warm, and keep it up. You are getting a lot of the odd and end parts, now.
|
Re: 1968
It's a go for the 3.73 swap. I'll let you guys know with pictures tomorrow after the swap.
|
Re: 1968
Well, we made the swap and installed the 3.73 in his truck. He went home happy.
How I will be looking for a 700R4 transmission to go into mine. |
Re: 1968
I think you will be real glad you went with the 700R4.

I ordered some more parts today. Sent my column off to be rebuilt.
wiring diagram 69 thru 72 neutral safety switch 60 thru 72 Ignition switch retainer Ignition switch spacer dimmer switch dimmer switch connector turnsignal switch glove box light kit all these parts are from Classic parts. got my eyes on a 67/68 hood in good shape. going to order a wiring harness for the truck in a couple weeks. |
Re: 1968
I bought a hood today. It looks like a good one. I will know next week when I drive over and pick it up. At least I can fix this one. My old hood is a little sick now.

Re: 1968
A new part came into. A large rear seal for the rear glass. A distributor pig tail for the HEI distributor.

Re: 1968
Hey George If I remember correctly a 3.08 is better suited for a TH350 or TH400 for highway speeds, where as a 3.42 is better suited for a 700r4, the reason why is because if you are pulling a hill with the 3.08/700r4 combo it will be too much gear and force a downshift, you might want to look into it first before you make the final decision, that is what Vic told me a while back so I'm leaning on his years of experience for this one.
