 I can only say that I am truly pleased that that animal didn't end up inside the passenger compartment kicking the living snot out of the occupants.

That paw paw is like pudding. You can eat it with a spoon. You sure don't have to acquire a taste for it. It's a natural fruit. Ever see corn before we developed it into what you see today? I had a bumper crop this year. I guess the trees are fully mature now. The ground got covered and more still hanging. Bees buzzin' and critters clamerin' when I go back there. The trees are on my back property line. So I'm sure my neighbor is getting them on his ground, too
Let me find a picture This is an old octagon church from the 1800s near where my mom is. This is up in the Appalachians near the Youghiogheny River along Mill Run. They still hold Sunday service there. Check out the home made siding |
Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
Are they anything like persimmons? I like both the US and Asian kinds. Don't see them for sale often around here; maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.

No pets, kids are grown, having the grandkids is sporadic. Instead now we’ll take pictures of our little car =)
Went over the pass last weekend to Leavenworth. |
Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
Nice pics, Mark! I worked in Leavenworth for awhile in the late Sixties. Used to enjoy Aplets & Cotlets made there until I got a couple bug-infested boxes. Haven't had any since. Loved Icicle Canyon, beautiful area!

Drove down to Oregon spending a couple days at The Dalles/Hood River area. Super nice weather down here, almost 70 today. Been enjoying the back roads, fall colors, and the Fruit Loop. Fruit Loop is a whole bunch of orchards that have set up for tourism.
And the obligatory “random” photo I took overlooking the Mighty Columbia =) |

we left NAS North Island in this one headed for Kuwait.. during the flight brief, the young airman warned us about air sickness during a scheduled in flight refueling scheduled over the east coast.. I asked him if I could go to the cockpit to watch and he said no one had ever asked him but he would find out.. few minutes later he returned and said the captain would allow only one in the cockpit and I was it :) 4-5 hours later the airman woke me up an took me up front and they let me sit in the forward facing seat behind the pilot! can't even describe how awesome it was to experience the approach and fueling boom connection from the cockpit of a c5.. they made several approaches and breakaways for training so I got to see it a few times.. but then..... something went wrong and one of the probe components broke! I was suddenly escorted back to my seat in the back and we made an emergency landing in Gander Newfoundland :canada: we had to debark and the kind folks there called some of the concession staff in and they opened up the terminal for us, can you beat that for hospitality?! after a few hours - back on the road... only to stop in Rota Spain and break down there for three days  been half-way around the world a couple of times in a C5 but never flew in a c17 fascinating plane, even if the passenger seats face backwards and no windows LoL.. https://dl.dropbox.com/s/rkkqbwjke9r...0018_.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/565mko0497z...0026_.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/rtsah7nepuz...00047.JPG?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/abbtxcqy359...00037.JPG?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/ftj2atpydjo...00043.JPG?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/rv06nvck2w5...00039.JPG?dl=0 |
Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
Back in the '70s we had a C5 come into Davis-Monthan. I was in SAC security at the time and they pulled us up to secure that sucker while it was on the ground. It was an empty plane but, we had to hump it due to its sheer cost...and we had the clearance higher than LE or flight line security. It took a long time to walk from nose to wingtip, to tail, to wingtip, to nose.
When I saw that beast in the air I thought it would be hitting the active in minutes. Wrong! It was still way out. Hell it was a blimp with wings...LOL! |
