painted the dash, a nice silverish color. It looks pretty sweet. Got the drive line put back in. Next is putting the new carpet in.

It's a late model Ford color, Cinnamon Clearcoat Metalic. Looks great in bright sunlight, but looks more brown in the shade.

I was going to ask what color that was, its very nice. Something about classy suttle looking colors have been appealing to me lately, instead of loud bright ones. I like it (even if it is a FORD color ;) )

Spent last night working some more on tuning the engine. I pulled the carb, due to a small vaccum leak I was having, and removed the old gasket materal. Put on a sealing plate from Holley, should keep it from doing that again. Also plumbed in a PCV valve, as I had not been running one before. Pulled the HEI and sut a advance curve kit in it, and slid it back into the motor. Just have to bolt the carb back down, and set my timing again, and I should be good to go. I was tired if it running so rich and fouling plugs, and you could just smell the excess gas coming out of the tailpipes. Should get a little more get up and go, little better mpg, and no more smelly exhaust!

Several weeks ago as summer was approaching, I decided to get my factory ac up and running on my 72 blue Cheyenne Super daily driver. I noticed that on one of the hoses coming off the back of the compressor, it attached to the hose fitting at the "heater box" area with just a standard hose clamp. My first thought was there was no way that it was holding pressure so i decided to remove the hose and get it rebuilt correctly. While waiting on the hose, I decided to go ahead and remove the compressor, clean it up, re-paint it. Well, you can't put a cleaned up compressor on old nasty brackets so they came off next. This exposed an old rubber fuel line from the fuel pump that had bothered me for years so I rebuilt it with a hard line as well. As I am looking at the front of the engine now partly exposed, I was reminded of the on going cam problems that have haunted this truck since I got it about 4 years ago. The previous owner had re-built the motor and made a number of errors that needed correcting including the cam selection. I decided if I was ever going to get this motor right, I needed to replace it. I selected the Comp Cams 268H based on my freind JohnO's experience. So, I pulled everything apart and re-finished it in Chevy Orange. JohnO helped me put all back together and I must say, it runs better than I could of expected. Other than the waterspots in the pictures, it also looks like it now runs!

Thanks Dano. Now I just need to replace from the fuel pump to the tank. For some reason, the PO stuck it on top of the frame!

Or is the question "what did your truck do for you today"? It took me for a ride. The temp was 97 degress outside and it had to be 180+ under the hood.I was getting vapor lock.

Went to the Pick-n-pull on my lunch today and scored a new Power Steering Box for $30. Degreased it and shot some paint on it when I got home. I will install it this weekend and see if it is gonna leak like my old one. It seems evertime I fix one leak I get two more. Blew a line on my front brake and it looks like my PS pump may be leaking now. ARGGGHH!

An electric fuel pump will cure your vapor lock. put the pump as close to the tank as you can. Fuel under pressure raises the boiling point of the fuel. I put an electric fuel pump on my truck in Arizona never vapor locked again.

That tach is cool! I finally managed to get the seized bolt out of the firewall main wiring harness plug so i can finally get on with rewiring the engine bay.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed a new power steering gear box, trimed and painted the inner fender well, tightened up the leaky tranny pan, looked at the blown out brake line and wondered if I would ever get another one(been waiting a week to get two from Autozone) and pressure tested the new gear box. So far no leaks. Time will tell tho.
