Re: What did you do to your truck today?
It is hard to imagine WHY the PO decided to cut through the glove box door to put the radio in. It takes all types I suppose.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
This evening, I adjusted my new Hella headlamps. These are H4 upgrades from rallylights.com and wow! I love being able to see at night.
I did the relay upgrade a couple years ago for the H6014 sealed beams. Since one burned out, I opted for the Hella lenses. Dave at rallylights has assisted me with all sorts of wiring solutions, for my BMW & Honda motorcycles and my previous truck, 1988 Dodge Dakota. I had the Hella headlamps in that, too, as the H4666 bulbs were probably the worst lamps from any factory. Last week, I replaced the window weatherstripping and door channel. What a learning experience. The factory manuals say to 'lube' the felt channel with gasoline. Not!! Silicone spray works just fine. I also installed a universal wiper washer pump, and placed it outside the cab, next to the master cylinder. I like working on my truck. It is therapy for me, and the electrics are more important to me than horsepower. AnlaufJohn |

Put the sbc 383 and tranny in the truck. Pulled out the crap stereo (four speaker holes to weld up now), pulled the dash out to get ready for the gauge swap.

Bought a set of new rear shocks and designed some upper shock relocators to get the shocks setting more upright.
http://inlinethumb52.webshots.com/28...600x600Q85.jpg On the way to the parts store I saw an early 70's shortbed 4x4 that had a nice lift kit with mudders all the way around. Everytime I see a vintage lifted Chevy I wonder why I dropped mine instead of lifting it. Remember Dino63's lifted long arm 2 wheel drive? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...runner&page=11 |

A co-worker told me about a 'new' wrecking yard near work. He thought there were some older trucks there, and I should check it out.
Yesterday, after work, I dropped by. Sure enough, there were a bunch of older American classics, all being prepped to be weighed and scrapped. Oh, the horror! Anyway, I talk to the owner and mention my need for a new hood. Any good ones around? He shows me a rusty '63 Fleetside with a good '65 front clip. I look at the hood, examining the rear brace area for good steel. Yippee! I said this looks really good. How much for the hood? Front clip is $100.00, hood is $100.00, piece or all, $100.00, I want that out of here!!!!! He had moved it from one yard in town to a smaller yard in a smaller town and then brought it back up to be nearer the scrapper. So, now my truck is yellow with a green hood. But it closes tight. I mean it doesn't feel wonky or anything. My wife even says it's prettier. That's a big complement from her, considering she's hated the yellow from the day we saw it back in 2005. I wonder what the neighbors across the street think now? I don't think I will ask them. AnlaufJohn |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finally got my clutch pedal assembly to work right on my 62, now if it'll only last I might be able to replace the clutch, bleed the brakes and work on the heater fan assembly, I could be driving it!
The foot of snow on the cab and foot and a half above the bed rails adds weight for traction. If only it wasn't supposed to be -18 tonight...... :( |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Weather was nice here today so I took it out for a little ride. Been in the barn since December.
