Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I load tested the battery on the truck after it didn't want to start. Compared it to the battery in my Buick SUV and discovered that my Buick needs a new battery.
Maybe the starter in the Chevy has a bad ground causing it to not want to start. I'll have to do some digging. Or I may have some kind of parasitic draw killing my battery. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Did a little work on the father / son project (my 14 year old's first rig). Pulled the recovered bench seat and visors from the donor cab. Cleaned them all up and sprayed a couple fresh coats of vinyl dye. Started going through the ductwork. Repaired some questionable headlight wiring. Then showed my son how to shift through the gears in the 4 speed. :) That was the best part!

Well I went by "The Shop" (my 2nd home), to just B.S. with the Owner and his Son.
The Conversation got around to the Tired Engine in my 72 GMC, and how I had bought a GM Crate Engine back in 2004 (ZZ383/425), for my 67 C-10, and that I paid $5600.00 for it at the Time. Well that type of Income is in the past, so we got around to talking about engines, and I told him if anyone ever came into the shop with a "Well Worn" 350, that was in better condition than MINE, to give me a call. Anything is better than my 185 HP 350. So he says that he's got a 32 Chevy Delivery Sedan, that has a stroked 350/383 from the P.O. He says it's approx. 350-390 HP. He said that I would have 1st Dibs, when he puts his NEW engine into it!!! This Guy not only has great Customer Service, but treats me like part of the Family too!:metal: |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Took mine to a local cruise in last night, and hung out with some friends and looked at a few hotrods. First time I have really drove it since I recurved the distributor and changed the timing, and jetted the carb. It runs better than it ever has, and no more extremely stinky exhaust. Gonna go to a show tomorrow too, and enjoy cruisin in the 67 as much as possible this weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Applied a few coats of bed liner to the underside of my cab. Started the body work. The body work would be easier if...I had a clue about what I am doing!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Drove to the Home Depot today to get some replacement sprinklers...
Just so happen to park right next to a pretty clean Black 69-72 truck. Anyone here own this pretty sweet truck, took a sneak peak under the truck and noticed it had some Bright Red cherry bombs welded up under there. Installed my OEM AM radio and speaker "system" in 100+ degree heat with high humidity, and bolted down my front seat onto new carpet and sound deadening.
Radio doesn't work, and I am hot and miserable... |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I was driving in the 3/4 ton to pick up a sink & vanity yesterday & I noticed that the gas gauge was only less than a 1/4 tank. I had over 1/2 a tank the day before. I got home & found gasoline on the white rock where I park it. So I crawled under & found that the rubber gas line from the tank was kaput. Replaced & all is good except for losing about $20 worth of gas. At least it was an easy fix. I love easy fixes. Oh yeah, I also put windshield sealer up on the driver's side upper corner where I found that it was leaking the other day when I was driving on the highway in the rain. I don't think I had done that much with this truck, because I hadn't noticed it before.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed a headlight relay upgrade from Classic today. Only cost me $30 bucks shipped. Installed simply but I had to put wiring loom over the whole thing. The yellow wrap they put on it was nasty! I am looking forward to pulling her out of the garage tonight to see if the lights are much brighter. Also installed my E-brake cover. About as much as I want to do in the 95 degree heat out here.

Still prepping for tomorrows Brothers truck show.
So far today, wash, wax, vacuum, and wash windows. getting ready to detail, just as soon as the heat settles down outside. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Brought the truck to the first car show since I've owned it. Since I've only owned it for about 1.5 months. Cruise Nights don't count.
I REALLY need to buy some license plate frames with the year on them. #1 question I get asked is the year, driving or stopped. Had 2 people just today as hat year it was as they were driving next to me. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed a Holley electric fuel pump, and installed a new vacuum modulator on my turbo 400 as the last one was allowing tranny fluid to pass through to the vacuum line right to the carb.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Tightened my steering gear a little. Big difference. Should have done it 6 months ago.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Removed heater core/box, removed cowl panel from below windhield, cut out the old 6cylinder exhaust pipe and muffler. Removed tail lights, reverse lights, clutch pedal, door panels, instrument cluster
Also had to grind off some welds. The previous owner installed a sheet of steel that covers the wood bed and he welded it to the front, sides and back of the bed. It was a PITA, but luckily i had enough patience.....and a grinder with 3" cutting wheel. |
