Thankfully, I have a big pile of pretty nice parts just laying around doing nothing. The monetary outlay should be negligible, but the time is what I really will miss.

Don't let this one slip through the cracks now that you've got a blazer build going. I want to see this one finished! :lol: Not saying you won't finish it, I just know how a lot of us get when we get a new project. (myself included)

Yeah, we’ll see how quickly that one can get neutered. It’s using a separate budget, but potentially borrowing a few parts from the truck... I’ll try to keep them both moving, but the Blazer should be simple in comparison

I picked up a somewhat questionable 4L60E locally, which allows me to use the 700R4 in the Blazer. It also gives me the opportunity to mock-up the drivetrain, which showed me a few things right off the bat: 1) the driver header fits like a dream, 2) the passenger header will not fit at all, 3) the a/c compressor will not mount low like I wanted, and 4) this looks badass :metal:

Yep, it does look good!

Does ac compressor get into the engine mount? Or too tight in the frame?

With the Sanden 508 compressor, and LS adapter plates (I foolishly ordered SBC mounts when I bought the dropmember), it interferes in both areas. I think the answer is to get the correct engine mounts from PB and use the smaller SD7 compressor, which is shorter and has better locations for the ports. It’s that, or top mount the compressor :barf:

I’m thinking I may get the passenger header to work by cutting off and re-fitting the head flange. It fits great, other than hitting the coil over mount...

Looking good Chris, I was going to ask what the problem was with the passenger side header but you answered it already! You plan on trying to modify it or are you going to go with something else? These are the speedway engineering headers, correct? How’s the clearance look with the steering shaft on the driver side header?

I'm running the dirty dingo low compressor mount with my SD7 compressor. Plenty of compressor for a single cab. Just sayin'

Oh, and I'm not sure about the dropmember, but the Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers for LS swaps fit great in my 71.

Yup, Speed Engineering. Not sure what I’ll do with them at this point. I think I could re-flange it and get it to fit, just not sure what it would do to plug wire clearance. Steering shaft clearance pics below, plenty of space

The manifolds do fit well, but hard to beat the torque kick you get with long tubes

The DD setup does look like the right option, it’s just $350 I wasn’t planning on spending...

I’m also looking at other header options, the DTs are nice. Gonna chew on this for a bit
