No photos of their '56 F 800?

When I searched for their old truck pictures I also didn't see a picture I used to have of one of their GMC Cannonballs with the old red & Cream paint scheme.

I did find this picture, though. Kinda purdy ain't it?

What is the deal with the fourth one down? Is it some sort of medium duty concept or was somebody bored and had photoshop.

Never cared for a Dodge, but that first one is impressive.

I do like the pre-'48's though.

Sheeesh thought this was the "Trucks Are Beautiful" thread... those Dodges have a face not even a mother could love.

I remember this coming up in another thread and it was a South America only deal. Dodge 6500

Love that yellow rollback though

They went awful heavy on those new Dodg... I mean Rams.

I can't hate on a big Dodge truck. Nothing can be styled as nice as a GM in lighter trucks, and that carried through to their bigger trucks as well. But when you are talking beautiful and big trucks, beauty is only skin deep and we ain't talkin' pretty. Most Dodges ran Detroit diesels. I like that they kept the same cab for so long into the '60s. The latest trucks they built I don't recall ever seeing too many. They looked funky but I like the look now

With trucks it's just sheet metal. It's what that sheet metal sets on that counts

They might not have been much to look at, but Dodge built some very decent heavy trucks back in the day.

That's a Fageol. Very good reputation. Fageol's west coast operations were based in Oakland, and they went out of business in the late 30's. A man named Al Peterman bought the factory and the rights and reintroduced the trucks under his own name. Called them Peterbilts.......

A great piece of history that I never knew.

Yep. Peterbilts go back a bit farther than you think, in a way. Kind of the same as GMC.

Let me find some other ugly trucklings . I'm serious. I don't mind looking at any of these

Nice group of Dodge heavy haulers! Thanks for sharing special-K. The concept of using a late 50's cab in the 70's really makes you wonder if we really needed all those short cycles of cab designs. I believe the heavy duty cab was used from '55-'75, and Dodge kept the newer pickup cab on light duties from '61 to '71.

Yeah, the '50s cab overlapped with the long running '60s cab, as well as continued the Town Wagons and Town Panels. It seemed in that era Dodge had it's own game plan with trucks. Less on style, more on function.
