tried installing a new turn signal switch in my 65, but it did not fit because the mounting holes were off. im thinking its a gmc column but not sure so i will have to return/order a different switch. coming home after a drive tonight the left front tire blew out, luckily i was able to limp home

I finally figured out that it was this ill placed washer:

https://photos.smugmug.com/Cars/1965...09606_a-XL.jpg

was the cause of the intermittent drivetrain shudder and noise I've been chasing down since I got the truck running two years or so ago. Solving that without pulling the transmission back out makes me a happy boy.

TJ, are those Langdon's cast iron headers you are using? Or are they Clifford?

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Nevermind, they look to be Clifford.

Removed the 307 yesterday and today installed the 350 I put together for my car. Wanted to swap some stuff on the 307 and figured I'd drop this one in for fun/testing. 10.3:1 compression, Vortec heads, $100 Perf RPM copy intake, 214/224 white box cam. Basically a cheap clone of the 350HP GMPP circle track crate engine with another point of compression.

They are TriPlus, which I purchased through JC Whitney (they had 20% off and free shipping). I wanted to mount them this morning and take pictures, but time wasn't on my side.

I snapped a picture of the driver's side. One shows that the construction isn't very good, as you can see through to the ground in two spots. They both show that the blend from the front of the fender to grille support is off. I don't know if that's because of the fender or the grille/truck.

The truck ran into, or had been hit by, some horizontally fixed object just above the bumper on the passenger side, which smashed in the fender, grille support, and grille, and I attempted to pull the grille support back into place. It wouldn't be fair to judge the passenger side.

I'll know better once I bolt everything in place.

I had the tailgate letters and the area between the the chome on both sides of the truck handpainted in metallic silver today. I think it compliments my chevy tahoe grey interior seats.

Finished removing the doors from the Stahl utility body on my '66. Tomorrow they go for sandblasting, then the fun starts of fixing/replacing the rusted out areas. This one is not bad but some are a bit worse for the wear.

That Raptor Liner looks good! I read good reviews on their product, but haven't gotten around to spraying the underside of my cab yet...and I've never seen any pictures of it in use.

Yeah, the lap didn't include the long front straight, so I didn't have to worry about cooking the brakes in Big Bend. That being said, with the rudimentary safety equipment (old lap belts and not much else) I wasn't motivated to push it.

Finally got time to get the glove box back together with a new insert.

Broke down and pulled off the back bumper. I realized the lights "issue" could likely be replaced with ATV or motorcycle lights. I'm going to work on finding them.

Also, needed the bumper off to pound out a dent in order for the rear driver wheel to have more clearance as well as attempt to get the top bolt off the rear shock. It has been "stubborn" so far.

Was finally able to get the cab off to do some rust repair today. I put some new cab supports in also. It's not much but it sure feels good to get some new parts welded in.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

I took the truck out for it's maiden voyage (sense it was painted). I have not driven it for over a year and a half. The doors rattled like crazy but I think that is because the whether stripping is falling off. The inside door handle also fell of but that is not a big deal.

Sorry no pictures.
