I got the spindles off my axle and sized them up with the other two pair I have, been curious as I didn't remember the other pair I had. So I have two pairs of the passenger car 49-54 and then the ones that were on the axle are different, not sure of the difference but that is for another post. :D

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
brian: its been a few years since I installed passenger car spindles on my original I beam axle. if the grey cells are correct, the passenger car spindle angle between the king pin and the axle stub are different than the pick up ones. that causes a lot of caster and a big bow in the axle if you can bend it enough to get it aligned.

After my barn door window installation debacle I was forced to order some of the expensive rubbers from Steele. They arrived today - OMG what a difference! The standard window seals from most AD parts retailers are hard, inflexible and extremely difficult for a novice like me to install. The Steele units conversely are soft and supple. I anticipate a much easier installation. But at this price I'd better not damage these!

With Christmas stuff and just being beat I have missed getting out for my five minutes over the last few days. I got out there today and finished up the frame so it is ready for powdercoating. It had a few dents and they are all fixed now. The "cart" thingies I made needed a bit of work too and I got that done. Removed the shackle shafts and put some oil on them so the hole they go in will be protected when sand blasting and powedercoating.
Now, I have to find something to do while I am waiting for the powder coating. One of the things is get all the springs and axle to get it rolling. I have to pull the rear end apart next I am thinking. Brian |

I had a visitor at the house today too, with cmayna (Craig) coming buy to get a little part I had for him. We had a nice chat with his truck and mine, it was a nice bit of the day for sure. He drove his basically original truck (got a later 235 and a stereo LOL) over from across the SF bay and this truck is SOOOOOOO damn cool it's crazy! He posted this photo a while ago.
I thought it was cool seeing it in the photo but in person, wow, it is beyond cool. Thanks Craig for the visit! Brian |

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Jim, I ended up finishing the day with food poisoning after lunch. We are talking going to the hospital and all. I am still KNOCKED OUT by it, I will likely be staying home tomorrow when my family goes to my sister-in-law's house for Christmas.
I am really screwed up, hope it's over by tomorrow sometime but I don't see it. Brian |

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
What's funny is I eat ANYTHING, I go to restaurants with food from all over the earth, Afghani, Pakistan, Mexican, Korea, I LOVE food. I go to a different restaurant every time ordering the first thing I don't have any idea what it is on the menu! I LOVE food and am blessed with all we have just blocks from my house let alone the whole SF bay area.
So the funny thing, I went out with my brother yesterday who is NOT like this. We went to a 40 year old Americana restaurant at a ledgendary location in town. I have seen photos of this building (different name) in the fifties. I got a boring old American lunch that was miles from the crazy stuff I usually get. So it's damn funny that my brother who freaks about the stuff I usually go out and get took me to a place that got me sick as a dog! I am still feeling pretty funky but it's NOTHING like I felt yesterday. That was really really bad. Brian |
Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
so you didn't get your 5 min in on the truck? BAD SANTA!!
when I lived in Hayward we always went to this little hole in the wall Mexican place on A street. seems like the board of health was always shutting it down. I love all kinds of food and im convinced that the spices used in international food is better for you than the bland American style dishes. have a Merry Christmas. |

Well - I didn't eat anything exotic today (my wife is making "stir fry" for supper, though...), but I DID get to do a LITTLE on my 47. I managed to get the front axle on and bolted down, the front shocks installed, and a few small items painted. Not much, but any progress is progress...

brian - that place was on A street up near 5 corners / mission blvd. but that was a long time ago. we moved to seattle in 1981.

Sooooooo, I ended up in the ER yesterday, WHOO HOOO:lol:
Stayed there until after midnight so I was in the ER on my birthday, is that cool or what! :metal: Food poisoning, virus, they aren't quite sure. All I know is it felt like my intestines were tied in a knot with a 5lb rock trying to get through! Yep, I was feeling almost normal by then though so believe me it was a GREAT birthday present.
