Wifey got you busy again, trust me we all understand. I still got a kitchen to finish. Now the way you did the bumper was different than how I have seen it done. Your way seemed to be easier than what I've seen.

Anyway I had a little time recently some I decided I would smooth my front bumper. Its an aftermarket bumper from LMC Trucks. There are many ways to do this but this is just the route I took.
First I started off by grinding the head off the bolts.

Then I made some plates and tap them to weld on the inside of the bumper. Why? Because I wanted to spread the load when I torqued down the nut once installed. I have seen dimples on smooth bumpers when the bolts are. I think spreading the load will stop this.

I then install the bolts and screwed the plates down tight for welding.

Then I flip the bumper over and grinded the head as low as I could before touching the surrounding metal. I then used a hand file to shape the bolt with the contour of the bumper.

I then welded the bolt and used a hand file to smooth the weld.

Also doing it this way I also need to make a minor modification to the bumper bracket I will post pics when I get a chance.

The project is looking great. Thanks for yourbreakdown on you body prep too. Good reminder. I get in a hurry sometimes. Put lots of sealer on that shower

Thanks buddy, I can't wait to finish this bathroom so that I can get some work done on the truck. I think I earned a lot of points with the wife since you uses the shower now. She is singing and dancing, but if I don't finish the rest of the bathroom soon that singing and dancing will turn to screaming and cursing.lol

I did not weld up the seams around the door. I did weld all the interior seams inside the cab.

Okay Thanks. The Shot of your doors look so smooth it appeared that they had been welded. Are they just smoothed out with Duraglass?

No duraglass, I only use it over welds. I think its the pics the seam is there in the door opening. I thought about welding them up but then I thought the door is closed anyway.lol All the seams that you can see with the door closed are welded up and are smooth.

LOL. Jack of all trades and master of none I guess. I do and learned all this stuff because I'm poor man. I can't afford to pay people to do things I can do myself. I did not want to do the bathroom I remodel our kitchen about 4 years ago. I got some estimates from other people for the bathroom and I said thats crazy I can do it myself. I spent about 1/4 of what it would have cost. My wife knew this and set me up.lol She knew once I heard the price I would do it myself which she wanted in the first place. Please!!! The cab looks great, but we all know once you get back to the truck your going to find another change, which is going to lead to another change. Dont you know you have a line of us waiting to pay you good money for your advice and talents once you finish. I think im number 27. LOL
