Thanks, trying to wrap up the design direction...

Hopefully it will all make sense when it comes together... this is the 'headliner'. The door panels, safari rack and package tray will all follow same vibe.

That's pretty rad.

I've had a tiki theme in mind for my truck too, but nothing this involved. All I have right now is a hula girl dash ornament and tiki keyring, heh.

Edit: my tiki keyring: Attachment 1446417

Thanks Grizz! It's been a long road to get this far. With the work your doing on your rig, I'm sure you know exactly what I mean :)...Luv the stuff your doing with your truck and I'm sure it will look better than mine when your all done. I really just want a cool driver, something I won't be afraid to take out every day if I want. Paint is far from perfect but I'm ok with that, good enough for now.

Thanks Martin. We all had to start somewhere, been peeking in on both your builds here and there.

One thing, I wish you guys lived down the street from me, you guys seem like a lot of fun and really enjoy these old trucks and I like the way you guys help each other out. If I had the time, space and money, I would own at least 10 more trucks from different years.

Hi DLW

Thank you for your kind words on my build and madness I am getting up to.

I have learned so much up to now, and was saying to my friend Martin on Saturday when he came over, my mum and dad would have said I was completely crazy, but I think they would be quietly proud of what I get up to.

I wish I knew more about motor mechanics and could rebuild a modern engine for my truck like you did.

Have a good day. I am off to Portugal tomorrow morning till Friday night for work, so no truck time this week.

Yesterday......

Harley was around my feet as usual, and later Mickey from next door came around for a cuppa tea and a chat. Still I cleaned, and cleaned.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssycefvc9.jpg

After all the scraping, using a small home made hacksaw blade knife, I then grabbed the flap wheeled grinder and proceeded to debur all the wishbone edges, as well as dressing back the spindles that I had previously hammered mercilessly to remove the ball joints.

Deburring is done so that once the paint goes on, you have less water or moisture traps to initiate rust under the painted surfaces.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psactbn5mw.jpg

I then gave the parts, excluding the crossmember which got the pressure cleaner after the petrol wash a blast in the blasting cabinet to prepare them for paint.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psti1vt9hg.jpg

Tonight after work, first coat of paint.

Got the cab sealed with Peel N Seal (3 rolls) - taped all the seams with aluminum hvac tape... Carpet is in - re-poop firewall pad too.

07 Civic seals on door openings

Auto-Loc seat belts are in.

Cherokee 4-door rear door checks are modified for correct length and thickness

PS Door handle push-rod - "latch activator" repaired where it was welded up by brazing I'm guessing at some point in the past... hanging the DS door and fender tonight.

Got home from London tonight and got the suit and tie off as fast as I could, while Nicola made me a coffee, then straight down to the garage to get the paint onto the parts I cleaned up over the weekend.

First thing to do was figure where to paint, meet some hooks and tie spots on a supported scaffolding pole.
You see, it's never as quick or easy as a few photos imply.

Then mask up all the threads after cleaning them, again, as well as the holes where the ball joints will be pressed in.

Then the first coat of paint.

Simple black for most parts.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjz8z05qw.jpg

Got the top and bottom wishbones and brake drum covers done as well as the steering rod.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjmgkjj3n.jpg

Lastly the brake drums.

Just gave them a heavy coat of 400'C VHT paint.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9nyctg1p.jpg

I am happy with the changes tonight.

Looks awesome Griz!

I just had my coffee and put my armrests back together since painting the beige colored bases white to match the interior scheme.

That depends on whether you have all the stuff original parts that came with the truck to mount the radiator ie the cradles that the radiator sits in and the side parts that seal off the side of the radiator and direct Winslow for me I had to do some modifying to get it in Mines a flange mount and as you can see it does fit a tad high which I'm not very happy about but such is the way of life I am no longer overheating

Yup, got all that stuff so I'll be in good shape. Sprayed it with raptor a while back and just need to order the rubber seals and then figure out how to 'staple' them back on. LOL

If you go with a 4 row you will have to modify the mounts.
