Not the truck but the next generation (youngest grandson) got introduced to ratchet, he thought it was magic. Working on a vintage lawn tractor sprinkler I rebuilt for Joan.

Got everything except the angle strips bolted in without scratching anything. Since the SS angles are not welded to the bed sides like the originals, would it make sense to use a bead of adhesive/sealant between the angle and the bedside?

I tried installing my Dolphin gauges but, as Alan Horvath states in his blog, the filler ring retaining brackets are totally the wrong size so I'll have to fabricate some of my own before continuing.

Unless someone has a better suggestion of how I can secure the filler rings - glue perhaps?

After fabricating my own mounting tabs I was able to get my gauges securely installed.

The to-do list is getting smaller...

That looks great, undercoating looks to have taken well to paint.

If theres anything I don't look forward to is having to work under the dash. My build and flexibility tain't what it used to be LOL.

Look'n good, thats the clean way to do it.

Man have you got that right! Pure misery working under AD dashs. At 70 i come out bloody and bruised each time, plus the vent handle swing makes things even more difficult!!! Worth it when done but makes me want to find the improbable -- a reliable teenager who works cheap. LOL

One of my favorite moments when building a truck is getting to fire up the engine after years of sitting.

Today, dispit my distributor being defective and wife having other stuff needing done. The TBI 283 fired up and range sweet music to my ears.

On top of it I had the chance to test the CCP power steering box that seems to work good as well. My day is complete but I am not even close to done.
Makes me want to drive it even more.

today was a busy day. sadly a great deal of the "busy" wasn't related to my truck. however I did meet up with a very nice ad truck owner who purchased some of my parts truck and I was able to get my 18 inch fan installed properly. only took 3 weeks to put four bolts on. after two pulleys, 3 spacers, and 3 sets of hardware its done. fans turning true (by hand) and the belts lined up and installed. tomorrow I will start the simple task of measuring for the hole in the shroud. that's probably going to take another 2 weeks the way things seem to go. oh well that's hot-rodding
for ya.

That seems to have been an ongoing battle for you, good to know you finally got it under wraps.
Make sure to post some photos of it when done.

Sorting hardware and preparing for reassembly while hoping the truck comes home from paint this week. Check out these sweet billet fender washers from Eddies Motorsports, they should look and work better than regular fender washers when the fenders go back on the box. For just over $2 a pop, I figured it was worth a shot...

Understand. May i suggest wearing a longsleeved shirt/overalls etc (thicker the better) when working under dash? Works for me and eases the pain somewhat.

That IS "working on your truck" so it's all good! :metal:

I haven't been touching mine at all, been cleaning up after removing the bench, and I have to look at that as "working on my truck" or it will piss me off. So yesterday I finished that up, I am now awaiting my primer I ordered from SPI and my flapper valves from Jacks small eng parts to fix the compressor and I am READY TO ROCK again actually working on the truck. WHOO HOOO!

I got a little worried when I got an email from Jacks on Friday telling me that the manufacturer hasn't sent them the valves, thinking maybe they have been discontinued or something stupid. Then yesterday I got an email telling me they are on the way to me right now! WHOOO HOOO!

I will be rocking and rolling next week some time. Still have stuff to do, I'll be out there today finding something.

Brian

Unexpected backorders can sure kill momentum, over the course of this build I have learned which vendors can be relied on to fill orders in a timely manner and which ones should be relegated to “last resort” status. Glad to hear your parts are coming so you can keep moving forward...
