Was able to bring her home this morning, she where she belongs Boys! The guy in the hat is Uncle Ken, he's into antique too has a (I think a '68-69) TR6 rag top fully restored. I really need to put the seat in to get it off the pool table before the wife saw it and it's also out of the way too. I knew I was clos to the color match, but I really think I could not gotten any closer, esp. right out of the catalog from the Truck and Car Shop.

Well, yesterday actually. My wife said that I needed to be sure the old truck was clean. When I asked her why, she just smiled and said that we were going to use it as a prop in our family portraits. Too cool, made this alot more fun than it could have been.

Drove it to work. half way there i started to smell coolant :o. not good. i

didnt want to pull over because i was getting so close to work. as soon as i

slowed down enough i could see steam pour out of the engine compartment.

parked it really quick and the hose from the intake to the heater core was

torn.coolant gushed all over the engine and all components. lucky for me i

still had a few extra inches of hose. After work i cut off the torn part and

re- attached it. filled it up with water and was able to get it home.

that was scary when i saw the engine temp rise over 220 degrees

I imagine you probably prefer the photo with the family added, but that rear shot really makes the truck look tough! Very cool indeed.

Tried to install my repo driver side arm rest on my 72.I cant for the life of me get the screws to start in the armrest .They go into the door easily and look through the armrest holes and they line up perfectly ,take them out and try as I might they just will not start in.What am I doing wrong ? I did manage a few bad words but all it did was made me feel a little better. Will try again tomorrow.

Consider taking the front panel off, putting them on then re set the panel, would it be easier that way?

Reminds me of a time when my wife and I did our first long distance road trip in the truck. She wanted to drive so I told her to watch the gauges and about 30 min to our destination she said "wow, something smells like maple syrup." And I was like "what the Hell, that is not maple syrup that's engine coolant!" LOL turns out we threw the belt to the water pump. I still think of that day everytime I smell maple syrup.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Back in 1990 I bought a NOS Chevy Beretta stereo from a friend.

For some tunes in the ole '65 I decided to mount the steroe in the console. I bench tested the radio.. sounds pretty good, well good enough for a shop truck.

To support the stereo I fabricated some 16 gauge steel brackets designed to angle the stereo back up under the cup holders.

I still need to fabricated some spacers to go betweeen the brackets and console, then paint everything up.

My kind of modification… I have all of about 30 bucks in the entire deal, including the radio.

took out the stock bench seat outta of my 61' to put in the 1997 60/40 seat in. Didn't fit like I expected it too. SOOOO I took the orig. bench to a local uhpolsterer and he quoted me a decent price so I am sticking to the orig. bench seat....

New/old license plate to be issued to my truck soon. This is where I started my yellow accent color. It might have had something to do with the Steelers too.

Well since I just got it on monday , I have fixed the choke by installing a choke pulloff , installed a new dimmer switch, welded the exhaust back on ...tomorrow I take it for a test drive , after adjusting the brakes..

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took my headers off, removed my dist cap & wires, slowly getting everything loose to be ready to pull the engine. For some reason I don't remember the headers being such a pain in the rear going on as they were coming off.

Well I took the 63 out for it's maiden voyage today .. After tightening the headers , replacing the carb ,securing the trans dipstick tube , and adding fluid...... Then since I was so ambitious I adjusted the brakes , only to find out that some one mixed up 2 adjusters , side for side so they actually go the wrong way , I will fix that latter ... but got them adjusted and the pedal feels great ...replaced the thermostat gasket and tried to set the timing , but I am sure it has the wrong balancer on it, so I set it back after it seemed like it wanted to bind while turning it over ...Check the rear ratio , its a 3.08 non posi .. I do know before driving it again I am going to make a new shifter , the one on it has the wrong length arm , hard to find gears ....So anyways took my son around the block a few times , then the wife ... I think I need to make sure then is not a colony of mice in the heater , kind smells going down the road ... it kinda pops out the exhaust once and a while like it has a sticking valve , so I need to throw the vacuum gauge on it and see if I can figure it out.. other than that , it was a great day !! tThe wife says it needs a name . like valentine or mistress.. Ididnt see my wife all day monday when I was on the road towing it home.;)
