Re: Daverods project 66

probably should have ordered it from AVS. We got a new CNC at work other one was having some problems so we have to set it up and play with it.

Dave -where did you finally set your timing at with the new HEI? What is your plug gap setting ?

daverod 04-16-2010 11:44 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

I set my plugs at 45. I think my timing is at 8. I was moving it around to see what it did. I was kinda amazed at how much I could move it and it would still run about the same. Let me know what you set yours at.

Got my brackets for my bags. Put everything together. Watched it go up and down and up and down. Need to hook up two more lines for my rear.:metal:

My front tires/wheels are to big. I have a 17" rim and the tire height is 30" they hit my cab. The tires on my 64 are only 27 " tall. If I stand on the cross member it's about 1" from the ground. Figured out why my upper arms where hitting the frame (post 1514). No shims. Need to get some 15" rims and different tires. Guess I'll pull my cab off and paint my frame next.

seen photos of wat people did to there cabs to get 22 inch rims and tires to fit
they cut out the piece hitting the tire and weld in a piece of trailerfender , works quite good actually

Put my engine on my frame. Tested out the front bags.:metal: Everything worked good. Pulled the oil pan off my 64 and changed the gasket. What a pain in the butt.

Good point. I guess I get a little lazy when it's "cold" outside. You know, down in the 50's.

When you use the POR-15 make sure it's in a clean environment because it dries very show and will collect dirt. Especially in a dry climate. Where it's humid it dries faster. And mix it really good to get all the deposits from the bottom.
