Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
The Longhorn is looking good . I boxed the front of my frame so I didnt get kicked off here too. Lol. Thanks for the update on the excursion. I'd really like to follow that one. Something rite up my alley.

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
When you look at any modern truck frame, they are all boxed (at least all of them that I've seen) and are BEEFY. They make these old frames look like they came off of a little sports car or something. I'm probably going to have a good portion of the back half of the frame on my C20 boxed when it's all said and done, too. Granted, mine won't be as nicely done as what you guys are doing (hats off to you), but it'll be a lot beefier than it was originally. It hardly weighs any more than my Taurus Wagon at this point. Then again, it doesn't have the power windows... And, actually, at this point, its in a billion pieces, so it's hard to even determine what part to weigh...

Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Tuesday night my little brother Scott joined in the madness and ripped the LH leaf spring apart and turned around the zero rate. wednesday morning I didn't have any parts for the Excursion so I did the RH side and installed the heli-coils in the axle housing. Last night Scott started making a boxing plate for the rear frame rail and now is getting an idea why this truck isn't done yet. It's a lot of work!
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...521_120529.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...521_120523.jpg I think he's going to keep working on it on and off while I work on the Excursion so we can try to get both of them running soon. |

Hey things are good I just finished off truck number 2 yesturday.....truck 3 is a bigger build but am well into it lately.....I see trucks in my sleep lately but it's all good.Sucks when your making progress and you get those side tracks for time and money from your daily driver .....I think this build you have going on is killer and it really has me thinking about going over to the darkside on my next adventure.....lol..wicked work over there.. |
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion
Tick tock, the clock is running down fast! Here it is June 3rd already! I've got literally a month to get this thing running and driving to make Good Guys! Crap!
On Saturday one of my friends who is a professional welder came over and played with my new welder. He welded half of my frame boxes in on the rear of the frame. He had to leave but might come back to finish them next weekend. If he gets his Mega Cab put back together, he might weld my entire frame for me. We shall see....... |
Re: Finally starting my Longhorn 4x4 conversion

The Longhorn, the 71(not gonna happen), the 68 Corvette, and the Excursion. Now after we put the pump on the 95 I get to add it to the list...
