She's still rusty but the driver's side door has all new rubber and felt along with a wing glass rebuild. Now to get the passenger side done.
Also adjusted the door to get the gaps consistent and it open/closing like it should. That was probably the biggest pain. |

Put in a new light switch, now its not so touchy when I have the dash lights turned up all the way. Often when I turned on my cab light, the dash lights would go off and had to wiggle the knob a few times to get them back on.
I also replaced the upper chrome tailgate trim clap thingys, so the trim isn't loosey-goosey anymore! |

Got a new air filter, while I wanted a K&N I was able to get this Spectre air filter from O'Riley's and insure it fit okay on my Qjet. Reviews are mixed and I could have gotten it a lot cheaper online but I don't mind being able to support my local O'Riley's store.
I also had an annoying mismatched back bumper bolt, it had a slightly different shape head and then it wasn't chrome and rusting. I ended up just getting a 4-pack of bumper chrome bolts. None of the ones I took off had lock washers. Now I don't have to look at that ugly rusty mismatched bolt! Nice and all shinny now :-) I tell you what, the fun factor on driving my truck has increased immensely in the last few weeks. With the newly rebuilt carb, new Progression Ignition, moving the throttle cable's pivot point (on carburetor bracket), and my new filter I can just about take off sideways! It is very satisfying working on the truck and seeing, hearing, feeling positive results. |

Tested my AM radio. Hasn't' be turned on in over 25 years. Works perfectly!
Years ago A coworker at fiber sunk his truck in the Columbia river while launching his boat. A diver was required to attach a line so they could drag it out from 50 feet of water. He got it all running again. But the radio didn't work. A month later the radio started working again. I guess they are tough! |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Installed a Borgeson steering box. My original type Saginaw box was not worn out, but started leaking slightly shortly after completing the LS swap.
Let me tell you, the Borgeson 3 turns lock to lock box is a major improvement. The box requires a square body rag joint (steering coupler). |
Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Installed new passenger side window. All the advice / videos here were a great help providing a birds-view. I'm really glad to have had that.
The problem we had is the truck is a full on custom with aftermarket Power windows that had its own set of original installation problems we had to deal with. One of the things you have to deal with when buying someone else's build. Which, I don't have a problem with...you just have to accept to go with the flow. Next up is to pull the panel on the driver's side window and fix up that install...before that glass breaks :0 |

Finally getting this interior to look like something. Installed my rebuilt instrument cluster, dash pad, AM radio and new steering wheel. It is always something when you make changes. Now I need to figure out why the cluster lights aren't working and try to figure out how to get the horn contact button to work.

Replaced my in cab fuel tank due to previous damage and poor repair (not by me) that started leaking. Also, wrapped the tank in sound deadener to make the fuel pump quiet...it worked.

Looks great, I'm just finishing up doing mine also. I wish I had gotten the 3 buttons for the controls now. Did you happen to install your glove box yet, kinda scares me to think about pushing it in there, afraid it might break?

I found the water leak in fire wall cowling. Had to use a Greenlee hole cutter (4in. hole) in upper cowl for access. Cleaned, treated rust and used 3M 8300 seam sealer to bridge the leak. The old seam sealer was a foam type material. No leaks now..
