I wonder if this will solve the biggest question I get asked.... |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I finished the rear spring and shock install... wow 4" drop looks fantastic.

Hey GMC69 ,what year is that truck ?
Sorry ,I couldnt resist . |

Even with the plates and frames, people will still ask the year and what engine it has. Some look at the engine, look at the badge on the side of the truck to confirm that it is a 396. Posted via Mobile Device |

Door panels are in. Door and window handles in/on. Arm rests are on. I know the dash doesn't go in this spot. I fished the dome light wire in thru the roof...new dome light. Boy, I hate the plastic crap. Any body find/know where to get a classy one?
I've got some orange peel inside the cab. But, I did it myself. I'm no pro. Just an owner/driver/gearhead. Door panels are set up to match the new seat. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
2 teenage boys with cars no more room so 1 of my 2 trucks must go decided to keep the 1962 gmc short bed. and sell the 1970 with 68 nose k10 4x4 and keep the motor for the 62... not having the room sucks.

Lots of grinding and welding tomorrow. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...806_185556.jpg |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
looked over a few small wiring issues. Truck was converted frm eternal regulator to one wire. So had some extra wires and regulator in the truck.
installed a relay to cut power to electric fan when the truck is turned off. before this the fan would still run after the truck ignition was off. This was till the temp got below 150 degrees. No the fan is controlled by ingnition realy and adjustable fan temp control. additonally I installed a new fuel filter. took out the little clear filter and installed a fram 1/2 quart filter under the cab on he frame rail. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I did it a few days back, but I installed my new Viair 380C to replace my blown up 100C I had been babying since last year. I had to relocate everything because of the sheer size of the new compressor vs. the old one. The compressor is now on the drivers side framerail behind the cab and the airtank is under the cab.
Here are some pics. http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...-57-18_522.jpg http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...-57-08_156.jpg http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...-56-59_345.jpg |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Oh its a hundred fold better compressor, 100% duty cycle and 200 psi makes a huge difference... I just wish I had a bigger tank now, more reserve would be great. Overall I love it though, much faster and I don't have to worry about the 15% duty cycle anymore.

Unboxed all the Vintage Air stuff in the garage, put it in the car, and took it in smaller boxes to the shop.
Put in the new air-battery box. Played around to try and fit the new radiator. It's gonna take some cutting on the core. That battery box fit was a b%&ch. Partly, I guess, foreign part jigs...And partly, squeezing it up into the spot that the new inner fender occupies. :sumo: Repainted the spots that had paint on them that made me mad. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
RossRinSD-- Oh I agree completey, I am currently just running schrader valves inside the cab with a fill line and air chuck. ;)
I plan on upgrading the air tank, getting a water trap/filter and going to paddle valves/gauges over the winter... I had hoped that the little 100C would last til winter, but oh well, new toys are fun too. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
This is what we did yesterday, Sunday, but not a lot.
My son brought his ski/fishing boat out and put it in one of my carports. While he was out here we shot the breeze quite a bit about what we want to do with my two trucks. I have finally come to the reality that I will never finish both of them so we are going to take the good parts off the two of them and make a good one. I have been resisting tearing the '71 lwb stepper, but it is worth more to me in parts than I could sell it for. Our goal is to put together a '67 swb stepper with power steering, power disc brakes, a 454 and 400 transmission. We hope to make it a nice driver, but the engine will not be modified other than a mild cam and headers. I guess only time will tell out it turns out. Hopefully this will not take more than 6 months. It is good to have a goal, but only time will tell how things turn out. Yesterday we got it started and onto a trailer and moved to my son's garage. It took a while to get the old 6 banger starter, I think the float was stuck in the carb. The 6 banger will be going in my son's '72 Malibu. |

Pulled my 3/4 ton out and gave it a bath. Took it for a drive. It's a blast to drive my old friend. When the winter hits I will start the body work and get it painted and all the trim put back on.

We took the bed off of this truck and I sold it to a teenage friend of mine who wants to put it on his '71 lwb C-10. He said his fleet-side was swiss cheese and he liked the '67 lwb stepper bed.
This truck is the one we are taking apart to use some of the good parts on the '67 swb stepper build. I put the battery charger on this truck so I can start it and move it around. It has the 454, doors, running gear and misc stuff we are going to use in the '67 we are fixin to get ready to build. |
