Re: GM Semis
Turning that General tow truck into a car hauler would be awesome.

Re: GM Semis
Nice old fat cab. Many years between the two pictures with changes done between a long time ago. I wonder how old the earlier picture is.
I think wreckers are cool as wreckers. |
Re: GM Semis
That truck has a pretty modern look to it for an older model. Looks like it wouldn't take a whole lot to get it back in nice shape again.

Workin' hard. You know what? I was just thinking about log haulers and how all they can do is guess at what their payload is. Size and how they fit combined with different density of each tree as well as the difference just 1" diameter make on a long stick puts a "full load" all over the place in weight
|
Re: GM Semis
Wow, that top log has no business being on top of there.
Even Kiln Dry Framing Lumber needs to be loaded sensibly. One day at the freight yard, my boss got behind the wheel of the fork lift instead of the regular fork lift driver. We would load 3 high all the time, although not all units were the same height. He put the taller and heavier load on the curb side of my '62 6500. The truck was "top heavy" enough as it was and I swear my drivers seat was about a foot higher than normal, lol. I took the load back to the yard (a mile or two) very cautiously. If it were to be a long haul, I would had refused. I took full left hand turns at about 3 MPH. |
Re: GM Semis
dont think it are multiple trees i think its a single trunk with some branch splits still on it
|
Re: GM Semis
Probably not loaded for hiway. But still a shaky situation, especially on soft and uneven ground. Looks like it's coming up out of a mud hole with the driver side already out. The old girl dragged it on outta there I bet, tho'. And dragged many more loads after

Re: GM Semis
Talk about some custom trucks! I saw that first picture and started thinking how those old semis are what I saw as every day trucks when I was a kid. Those were running around all fresh makin' money. And the sounds... Nostalgia is a wonderful thing

Re: GM Semis
I wondered if that or resonators? It looks like an oval muffler under the frame, too? That's what I thought I saw this morning. Now not so sure that's what I see.

Re: GM Semis
Maybe that 238 was ear piercing at 2750?
