Re: How about some pics of 47-59
oldman, LOL yeah nothing wrong with green. i shoulda said yellow!!!! I actually will have a few painted trucks someday, working on a two tone with white roof and a custom seafoam bluish metallic bottom. Really want a red truck at stock height too, I'm not into red or stock height but for some reason those two would be killer.
Still1, you can hit up pretty much anyone, I believe they have flattening agents you add to the clear. I think I spoke with a couple guys about it a couple years ago, one was eastwood and can't remember the other. Its def out there and people have done it. Only reason I haven't tried it yet is the fact that the surface gots to be super clean of dirt and grease and my truck is located on dirt roads so I just haven't gotten around to it yet. |

My 1955 GMC 101-8 Deluxe 1/2 ton long bed, that for 35 years I thought was a 1956. I always thought it was odd that it was titled as a 56 but had the "Y"{1955} prefix in the serial number. I recently stumbled across the answer while perusing the forum here one evening. I discovered that GMC titled the 2nd series 55's made late in the year as 56's. It was a beauty- perfect chrome and paint when I bought it in Idaho in 1978, then I moved to New York in 87 and in a half a dozen years, due to surface rust, I had completely primered it, section by section. This past summer I decided to wet sand all the primer off and see what I had underneath- I liked what I saw so I clear-coated it. People stop and say "all it needs now is a good coat of paint!". You should see the look on their faces when I tell them "it's done".
