Thanks guys. I posted the pics on the PS thread.

I also did some searching. I haven't found an orange one yet with the view I am looking for. I did find TR65's truck with the perfect angles. Thanks TR for letting me use pics of your awesome truck. I just hope the PS guys can work with the color. They mentioned dark colors and white are hard to work with. I don't believe it is white but a light gray.

Had a little shop time today. Blocked on the bedside with 80 with air tools then blocked it by hand with a long board. Around the wheel arch needs more attention as well as a couple more areas. I sprayed guide coat to see where I have been, plus to check his/lows.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03269.jpg

Here's a neat trick for those hard to reach areas when spreading filler. I use an acid brush.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03258.jpg

I tried another video of how to block into a curve, but I'm not happy with it(my performance). It could have been better arranged and thought out. Maybe I wouldn't stumble as much. I'm having problems getting the video link working like I want it too. I'm doing what I normally do but the video box doesn't show in the message.

I here ya. ;) Since it is cooling off a little (10 degrees) it makes it a little easier to get more done.

I hope to get it remade soon.

Somedays we all have bad days in what we do best. I couldn't get the filler like I wanted so I had to rewipe the bottom section.

Might as well bring a framing crew to build another bay. I think the walls are buldging now. :haha:

I need to make this statement. I know that there are several people that follow this build. There are a couple products that I use and have recommended. Slick Sand being one of them. While I feel comfortable using it, it might not be the right thing for others. In a nut shell read the label and talk to paint reps and make an educated decision on what is best for you.

Now that is over on with the build. ;)

The left bedside is getting closer. I installed the fuel door to see how it looks.

Thanks Bill!!. I didn't get anything done today either. I took one my girls pretty much all day. We ended up at the local airport. She even got her wings. She had a great time, especially when the helicopter taxied in for fuel. He was taxing people to the Atlanta NASCAR race. He charged $700 round trip for 3 people from Jasper to Hampton. That would be cool.

Thanks David!! No we didn't fly on anything. The helo might be an option for future races. ;)

Nothing else done lately. Hadn't had much time the past couple of days. Had a barn raising at the pastors house yesterday and the wifes B-day today. Trying to get brave enough to weld the panel inside the bed for fuel tube.

I took a couple weeks off from the truck and any thing else. I just came home from work and did nothing. Getting back to it now. Ronnie traded me some new bed wood and SS strips for what he owed me on his truck. I haven't got the wood yet, but should have it this week. Still working on the right bedside.

I second that!!
Also I am really interested in how that latch system is I wish MAR-K would make a retrofit kit for our tail gates rather than the whole tailgate and latch parts.

By chance any part numbers or mfg information on the latches? I have been looking for something that matches the pictures on the MAR-K website but I have not come up with anything.

Mar-k is stamped on the side locks and Eberhard is on the latch

No strings attached. ;) Guy Flowers.........now that's funny.

Ordered the rest of my bed pieces and Shannon had to go to Conyers and pick up some truck parts and went by Ronnie's shop to pick up the wood for my bed, it was only 15 miles away.

No progress this week. No time trying to get my truck and camper ready for delivery. It only took 2 years to sell it. They drove it 4 hours and called to tell me they loved it and the truck got 15 mpg average. I never pulled it far, just stayed close to home. They are very happy. That's a big weight off my shoulders. ;) The Ford is gone. ;) I've got my eye on a 1995 GMC Sierra 4X4. A man has to have a truck that runs and drives. :haha: We are looking for a class C camper that has already lost all of it's value. That way it won't loose value sitting in the yard.

Here is my old rig.

Thanks. I'm sure it will, but we don't go camping much. It will be cheaper to maintain a DD gas truck rather than that big diesel.

Speaking of a gas truck I traded my 1995 4Runner today for this 1995 GMC Sierra K1500.

I also got some parts delivered today.

It was a good trade. I've got a lot to do after the bed is done. Here is a short list, hood, headers, AC, glass, finish up seats, bumpers, wiring, carpet and a bunch of nickle dime stuff.

I went out and got the tailgate fitted and all hardware installed. It couldn't have been any easier. Had only one minor problem I will discuss that later.

First I centered the tailgate in the hole with bondo spreaders and a ratchet strap. I like using spreaders because they are tapered and I could fine tune the gaps.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03400.jpg

All of the hardware.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03402.jpg

Had to assy the strickers and install them in pre existing holes.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03404.jpg

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03405.jpg

Then attach the side locks.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03406.jpg

Hooked up side locks to stricker plate.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03407.jpg

Installed latches.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03408.jpg

A working tailgate. I like it!!!

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03409.jpg

The only problem is the latch on the right side was hitting the taper on the stricker (pointing to it in the pic) causing the TG to shift to the left closing up the gap on the left side. I haven't fixed it yet. There was a shim under the latch, but I removed it and installed a thinner shim. It helped, but not enough.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03412.jpg

2 more pics on the way.

Alan's Classic 10-07-2010 11:38 PM

Re: Project Vitamin C-10

Here are 2 pics to compare the left to the right strickers. It might be hard to see what I'm talking about, but it's there. I'm thinking of grinding the main piece so it will allow the stricker to move some. I only need a 3/32". The side locks rattle quit a bit when closing the gate. May have to install some anti rattle blocks.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...DSC03414-1.jpg

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC03413.jpg

Over all this Mar-K product is awesome in every way. Other than paint it is a easy mod. Thanks Mar-K for a great American Made product!! :flag:
