Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks! It's got a Camaro front end , the pic has leafs but I am in the process of putting a 4 link on it. It's actually down to bare frame. I took the cab off to finish welding the clip in. I would start a build thread but my progress is so slow that people would get bored and forget about it.

Does "had" count? This was my first old vehicle, about 20 years ago. It was a 1948 5-window. I called it The Angry Bumblebee. It was a rolling wreck. LOL

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
going to be titled as a 56. going next weekend to pick a few parts I found on CL. still looking for doors yet. engine wise just going to be running a 307 that I got for $50, once I have it mounted I hooked up 3 wire and an old ignition switch made sure it plug wires were correct order and dizzy was set about right and it fired right up with good oil pressure.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I totally agree by the looks of it, a hard truck to find in any condition.
I also lucked out lately, went to help a friend with an engine and ended up buying his 70 2wd Gmc short box stepside 2 weeks ago, had just enough cash plus porting a set of big block heads for him, can't go wrong with that. Good luck with your lucky project. Rick/mudman. |
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Looks like a solid base to work from
U sir lucked out R46 |
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
very nice truck. I like the patina. those are def not easy to come by. and it looks more solid than any truck I started with.

Hello all, I am new to this forum and also new to the old truck world. I have been shopping around for a old 1-2 ton chevy and finally pulled the trigger on a 1947 2 ton. I have a lot of ideas for it in my head but we will see what the checkbook (and the wife) will let me do to it.

My new purchase as of last night. Looking forward to sharing and getting guidance from you guys.
454 backed by 700r4. Air conditioning with power steering, power brakes, tubular a arms. Definitely a lot of work ahead but excited about it |
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Nice. Full rebuild or just sort out issues?
|
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Drives great. Just learn from people who have done things I haven't. Definitely going to finish off the bodywork and paint. Change the terrible wheels. Maybe drop the back a little. Has a 10 bolt and need to do the spring flip. Love some members rides and want to do things once
|
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
haahah glad you don't like the wheels, so not right for that truck. nice ride though

New to the forum,
Here is a pic of my newly acquired '47', it has a 383 stroker with a TH400 trans. Nova sub frame and rear end. I have new coil over shock on order for the front end, still trying to work some bugs out. |
