Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Man an old truck just needs a "Paris Hilton" friggin face lift!!!! heater core yesterday and
today damn rear brakes, wheel cylinder brake line frozen, puck another damn slow down heated the darn thing up with mapp gas and slowly working the temp 360 degrees to work it loose and finally it gave, not to mention breaking out my big cutting torch to heat up break the drums free them. the thing that suck the most was no "Coors Light" in the fridge!! that blew hard, but i survived. anyways gotta do it:) |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Is that bed liner you are using for the cab?
|
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Indeed it is. Its kinda dramatic right now. After the seat and possible floor mats go in, you wont see as much.
Keep in mind, this is a daily driver and I dont want it too fancy.. :) |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I like the idea as far as sealing everything to prevent moisture from getting into cracks.
I am wondering, does it "off gas"? Meaning will it release funky, maybe toxic, fumes that you will be breathing in the cab? Probably not any worse though than epoxy paint. Just a thought.. |

Yesterday! I swapped my 1965 cab for a 1960 cab!
My buddy has an overhead crane on an I beam. That made the work so much easier. Now the task of rewiring the new cab with my new harness and putting everything back together again. A few issues to work out is the steering column, brakes, and front cab mounts. Overall an fun time! First two pics are the old cab and the second are the newer better cab :) |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Getting ready to walnut shell blast the front clip and the bed.....beats the heck out of sanding it by hand. Photos will follow tomorrow on how it looks Naked.......Kieth

Finished up the hidden radio today, hooked up the antenna, finished assembly of the console and reinstalled the passenger seat.
Installed a CB antenna in the original fuel filler location. An "era correct" addition (CB Antenna). More photos and data in my build thread.http://inlinethumb37.webshots.com/46...600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb37.webshots.com/46...600x600Q85.jpg |

Took my old starter to Autozone and had it tested.... LOL It sounded like a coffee grinder in their machine and tripped the safety breaker. Tested the new one I bought... spun and sounded like a high power air drill... nice.
Installed the new starter and new wire harness.... one thing at a time. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Changed out the door lock cylinders and got the new wing window seal in on the drivers side. Here's a little tip in case anyone is considering the seal replacement: Don't.
:cuss: I did get it in, but it took a LOT of messing around. I'll post pics for the other side, as it should go quicker after the learning curve. It's not all that bad in hindsight, but requires a few rivets drilled out, and some 'creativity' on re-assembly, due to differences in the aftermarket parts. |

Finally finished driver's side of bed where I removed the old chain mounts - eliminated holes and latch cutout areas; started passenger side but ran out of MIG gas (bigger bottle?)!
Also patched the hideous hole where the antenna was… |

Spent the day in the following manner:
1. Spent about 2 hours trying like hell to figure out why the gas pedal linkage would not line back up with the carb throttle, removing the linkage and turning it around - Had installed the relay backward after painting it 6 months ago. 2. Spent an hour mounting the wiper motor and trying to remember how the relay linkage was laid out. Had to refer back to the pictures I took 4 years ago. TAKE PLENTY OF PICTURES!! 3. Spent 3 hours installing the interior defroster/heater combo and under dash heater box 3. Spent an hour installing glovebox liner, light, bumpers and door. |

What did I do to my truck today???
I took a picture of it cuz it looked really good as a daily driver parked in the high school parking lot. I am proud of my daughter that she loves driving a 64 truck! I was delivering a forgotten lunch.:chevy: And it is still winter in Idaho Attachment 710665 |

Got the day/night Mirror installed, the transmission cover in place, the bench seat mounted, the choke cable routed and the gas pedal mounted with brass screws so they never rust. Also I created an album for your viewing pleasure called "Fal-Tor-Pan, The Reassembly". Those of you who are Start Trek fans will know what I'm talking about.
http://rides.webshots.com/album/579894970vydbSl Fal-Tor-Pan, the Re-fusion. This ritual was performed on a 1960 GMC 305 V-6, 127" wheel Base Wideside Pickup in 2011. The ritual was considered very EXPENSIVE, both to the Owner of the Truck and to the keeper of the Katra, read "Purse". For this reason, it was almost never performed and at the time of Jake's Fal-Tor-Pan, it is unclear whether the ritual would be complete by June 2011. |

Took a test drive to try out the 5-speed transmission I installed in place of the column shift 3-speed. What a difference at highway speeds with the overdrive, it just cruises along without the engine screaming. Now, I just need to find an older looking shifter and boot to retrofit. And then on to the floor and rocker sheet metal.
