Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Not today but this week.
wed. i had my brockman glasspacks installed, could only afford to dump before the axle for now.

thursday i installed my correct rear bumper, license plate and autozone tag light.

friday i wired up my front parking lamps to become turn indicators as well.

Saturday i bought a 3/4 inch sheet of birch plywood for the bed, frustrating though since i couldnt cut the edge that goes under the angle bars but a rubber mallet and some pliers to bend the up helped out a bit.i also coulnt find any one to help lift the bed so i packed it all up. i also wired up a relay for the power windows but then my switch went out messing with the windows and i killed about 4 precious hours testing the window and that turned into a mess and i was able to put it all back together. still closer than before.

today i wired the tail lights and tied it all up to look neat and not hang all over the place. had to cut it short since my lady was starting to get tired of waiting for me to clean up and take them somewhere....you know exactly how it is.

Yesterday I found a small fine thread metric nut inside the engine block.

Yeah, I don't know either.

There hasn't been a metric nut in my garage in years.

It happens every year 'bout this time....... Leprichans..... St. Patrick's day is Thursday, they are storing their nuts. (they are from Europe... i.e. metric nuts)

See below: they look like "Vernski", except with a different hat / shoes. Oh, they are really small too (no offense).

Worked a little on the firewall tonight. The rest will have to wait until the cab come back off of the frame. I also decided to see how the tailgates fits. Still trying to make my mind to go with the chains or go for the cleaner look with no chains. I would hate to modify a original tailgate but we will see.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Today I pulled the truck out of the garage for the first time sense I bought it last week. I pulled the front bumper and grill assembly off. I also removed the bolts for the metal bed that the previous owner had put of the wood bed. I need to ground out a few welds and then I will pull the metal out. I cleaned up some of the wiring under the hood. It looked like a rats nest. I think I will clean up the wiring under the dash next. I am only cleaning it up to make it easier to remove and reinstall later after painting. I pulled the windshield wipers, antennae, parking lights, and headlights as well.

I feel like it was a pretty productive day today. Looking forward to getting it done in about two years. Atleast that is what I am shooting for.

So glad I found this site.

Not that expensive cost $269 from craftec.com but it did cost me another $248 for shipping to Australia still worked out cheaper than I could get from here.

Your bed cover looks great. I ran a Gaylord hard cover for about 10 years and it was a nice product, but very heavy and inconvenient by comparison.

Dropped off the truck with a friend at his shop, and put him to work....5 lug disc swap, power steering upgrade, power brake upgrade, (BIG thanx to CaptainFab!!) turbo 350 install, lowering and a set of rallys. Just a small amount of work. Went out this evening and cleaned up and painted the control arms and booster. Cant wait for all this to be done!!

I see your Craftsman rolling work stool did the same thing mine did. I cut a 2x8 and sandwiched it between the seat and the frame. This not only fixed the break but also raises the height to a better level.

This the corner piece is what was bad on my other trans tunnel , if you look at the tunnel next to it ,you will see that the rest of it has been hacked so many times it wasn't funny......
http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/IMG_4297.jpg and here is the good piece relacing the corner ,plus another small piece added to make one good tunnel.. the other shifter that was in the truck didn't work well and this tunnel/shifter is out of the one I am doing floorboards on .. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/IMG_4294.jpg And I almost forgot , I drove it around the block a few times ....tomorrow I think new sparkplugs and maybe start of replacing the fender bottom , just have to love it when it is 63 degrees in march , tends to get me motivated...

Good idea Lake, I was gonna cut some plywood, but have some 2x8 scrap and that WOULD give me a better height. (That thing broke the first week I had it). And STILL no headers, glad I didn't scrap the stock system ahead of time.

You are quite welcome!

Yes it is Heineken. I thought that was strange, you would think it would be Guiness? Then I read this on Wikipedia:

Heineken is the titular sponsor of the Heineken Green Energy music concerts in Dublin, Ireland, as well as sponsoring Ireland's biggest music festival, Oxegen
My mother's maiden name was McClusky so I got some Irish or Scotish heritage goin on there too. Bagpipes make the hair raise on my neck... some connection happenin'.

Last night I got into a fight with my headers, 2 1/2 hours later I won and got them installed. Putting long tube headers on by yourself can be a challenge, at least for me it was. Now it's time for the little stuff and the engine swap will be complete.WOHOO!!

Worked on the wiring. Took a lot of extra wires that didn't come from the factory. Now it starts with the key instead of a screwdriver. Got it registered today and now to get the insurance.

Wife drove the truck and the shifter stopped working correctly (wouldn't go into park). Some little tiny spring came loose... uggh. Not the kind of work I want to be doing on my truck.
