I didn't get a lot done on the blazer, I want to get the scrap metal tire carrier for the jeep done before it snows, it should be done this weekend.
Check my photobucket link below for pics on the blazer. Oh don't forget the door under all those hoods

John, thanks for the link, the video is awesome, truck sounds good....

Wifey, planned a get away this weekend, or else i was going to come down. Hope that door is still hiding under there, i need to cut it down for my quarter doors. My nephew said he can get me another tire, just like the one that is also hiding

Spare tire holder looks like it came out well, far better welder than me.

Hey, are those parts taking up to much space? If they are i will rent a truck to pick them up

Heard from Dave?

Sorry to see the melted wires. I had to rewire nearly my entire 66 El Camino under dash harness due to the same thing. Yours looks like much less work but it still sucks to have to do.

Re: PO has me PO'd

I think this was the culprit of the melted wires, 3 wires were spliced into 2....just bad timing and all, with HO HO HO around the corner.

Hoping to make one good harness out of the two that i will have in a week

Thanks for the encouragement, still got the el camino?

Luckily, it only collected the one red wire, rest of the wires were stuck, but able to separate

Re: PO has me PO'd

Ok, had some time on sat.,combined my harness and the idiot lite harness to make one good gauge harness. Seems like the only wires missing were a black, and ablack w/white tracer. Once i plugged them into where they went, i just had to move some wires around on the gauge panel plug

One nice thing about the new/used harness is that it has the neutral safety switch purple, mine was a converted stick shift to auto

Also his fuse holders were not rusty like mine, so heres a big thanks to Chevykevy. Harness was received in a timely manner, and was described in condition received.Even pmd me to tell me he missed something. The heater light was cut, so i just replaced it with mine

Only ended up with 2 extra wires, blue and brown on the gauge panel plug. The blue is for the oil sending unit, and the brown, i think, is for the brake warning lite. So, it seems everything is accounted for, except...35A &35B circuit of a green wire

Also, i would like to thank Warbucket, i now have my '67 chevy and GMC hoods. Not only did he tell me about his secret stash of parts, but he delivered them to my house.....nice to have the time to BS for awhile, too

Ok, enuff of my ranting, pics to follow

Re: PO has me PO'd

Ok, i was wrong! Pink and red have a factory splice, its the way that they used to bring the wires from the bulkhead connecter to the fuse block and then up the wiring harness. So, something else caused the pink to melt the insulation...to much draw. Either the electric choke or the starter, anyway, mystery for another day. Ill keep an eye on it

Harness is wrapped with the non sticky stuff i got from M&H, worked out well, and even found a way to wrap the end under itself

Light switch w/rheostat...check
Wiper switch high and low speed...check
Panel lights...check
High beam indicater...check
Turn signals...sorta
Ammeter...not yet
Cruise control...tbd, light works w/panel light
Brake switch...directions for mod. not making sense, but switch works
Igntion switch...check
Oil pressure light...need to mod. since i have a gauge
Cigar lighter...check, first time it has worked since i have owned the truck
Heater control...took a crap on me, rivets broke! thank goodness for the classifieds
Radio...no harness yet

Sample wrap, if you wrap apiece of stiff cord, i used a flat braid, under the last wrap or two, you can pull the tag end under. Then, if you pull on the cord it will come through under the wrap. I like to tie a knot, so it will not come undone

This is the step that doesnt make much sense, posed to be a alignment dimple on the brake pedal bracket...

jaros44sr 12-13-2011 04:27 PM

Re: PO has me PO'd

Figured out the vacuum bracket, must be aftermarket, no dimple, plus it was assembled backwards....

Ammeter....followed the wire from battery to the posts on the ammeter, got 12.68 volts, must be bad
WTB post coming to the classifieds

Me too! I have to take it apart and follow the wire strand by strand to figure each system out. As you can see, it has taken me two or three weeks just working on the electrical. Last thing i want to do is burn the ol girl to the ground, so i thought it was important to check out the electrical side....this is not my forte, but i do hang out in the electrical section, and read as much as i can

Trust me, i need to wrap my head in duct tape, just to keep it from hurting. This has been very painful

Thanks for stopping by, hope you and yours have a very happy holiday season

The thing that im happiest with is getting the radio in, that hole was driving me nuts....lol

If it make you feel better I still haven't got my backup lights or radio light or heater control light going, lol. Electrical gremlins are the worst, takes lots of time.... Lookin good man!:metal:

Sure makes me feel better, youre driving around town with a trophy in your new man cave, and im blowing 20 amp fuses in my workshop:haha:

Man, i hate electrical work, thank goodness its 70 degrees in here

I feel your pain all the way up here in philly...lol

Unplugged every thing i did so far, and will start over. Geez, if i could only put a 50 amp fuse in it, bet it woodnt blow:lol:

Thats cool 119,119 views

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...215_142214.jpg

Got the tach in and wired, finally had this part a long time. Used a stepper drill to open it up to 3/4", then used the stepper on the inside to get rid of the burr. Yeah, i know its in the wrong location, but i didnt want to take the fuse box out again

Last two items to address is the vacuum and the oil lines

Re: PO has me PO'd

Finally, regular drill wouldnt fit, had to use my angle driver, and pull the seat to fit under the dash....last piece of the cruise puzzle! Vacuum switch is mounted....PITA now, just change out the factory brake switch for the cruise brake switch, and i should be done with it

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...219_122243.jpg

Brake rod boot and clutch pedal rod delete, and i should be able to reassemble my tilt column...i hope
