stripped the upper end of my steering column for paint and a new turnsignal switch. Man these trucks are soo simple compared to the new crap.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Changed the motor mounts in my 70. What a gigantic PITA!
Hope to get the headers and exhaust system in tomorrow and get it to the shop so they can work on my tranny and brakes. Hope to have it ready for the Legends Get-Together next Sunday. |

not a problem.after spending a great amount of time laying on my back staring up under the 67 dash theres all kinds of hiding room.just have to build a bunch of brackets and get some good wire clamps. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Added a new Antenna and ran wire for speakers today. Nothing too crazy but a major pain to take out the glovebox liner without ruining it.

Son and I gave up on trying to use the angle grinder with wire brush to get rust off...too many places are hard to get to. So, we decided to get it sandblasted. Then, we started pulling the front end off, so we can get as much of it blasted as possible. Still gotta pull the lower control arms/shafts, then the crossmember. Next week, we're gonna finish that part, then pull the rear end/trailing arm ass'y.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Here is the factory set up
http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000146.jpg Cut the holes in the lower four and center upper to fit the Autometer 2 1/16th" gauges http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000169.jpg Added a little paint http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000174.jpg The speedo and tach backing clamps ,where a tad to short for the sheet metal backing panel so,, I added a little RTV and waa la http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000175.jpg The autometer 2 1/16th" gauges fit the lower four spots in the factory panel like they are born there http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v.../P10001762.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000178.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v.../P10001772.jpg The factory panel had the highbeam light in a gauge so, had to add one, sadly the hole is a little off center.. http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000181.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v.../P10001802.jpg The speedo and tach fit the factory holes "almost" the factory rolled the metal edges, so to close up the hole a little, I unrolled the flange a little , and Waaa la.. http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...P1000184-1.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000183.jpg The highbeam and turn signal lights are l.e.d. http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v.../P10001882.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v.../P10001852.jpg and the finished panel , only thing missing is the upper three gauges glass, that is being buffed, then I'll install and have a better pic of the finished product.. http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/P1000182.jpg |

I reassembled and installed the passenger side rear wheel hub/drum and axle. I removed the differential cover, drained the oil (yuck), and cleaned the cover, attaching hardware, and gasket surfaces. I counted 41 teeth on the ring gear and I didn't see any obvious damage.
