That hood looks great in primer. I don't blame you for not liking bodywork. I'm not much of a fan either.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
I saw a post on one of the threads out here that showed a shift knob fashioned out of a piston from a 5hp Briggs & Stratton… After seeing that post, I called a friend of mine and here is the result…

Once the welding is complete, I will then attempt to polish the pistons and paint the Shifter… any advice on polishing, and what (if anything) should be sprayed on it to protect the finish, would be greatly appreciated... |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
I think a good buffing cloth grinding wheel should make it shine. Then just do a good clear coat on it.
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
X2! Clear coat offers great protection. Clear coat is what protects the base coat from UV rays And gives it the shine! Wonderful stuff! lol
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
A good buffin never hurts. Thats what I did with my bezel and that thing shines like crazy.
Sorry to put a vid on with all sorts of Corney stuff. But if you look at the beginning the bezel does shine. |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Love your videos, they are always welcome here:metal:

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Eastwood makes a bare metal clear coat that works really well.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Rian (Grizz) had sent me this Cross of St. George flag, so in the shed it now resides…
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/687/2...71d411fc_c.jpgIMG_4842 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Not much of an update… been focusing on getting the P/S sorted on the '72 but today I visited my friend and got him to fire up his Plasma cutter and get the axle cut down, this will be my Spare tire mount for the stepside fender…. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5686/...2dfcbb3b_c.jpgIMG_4932 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Should be getting my wiring harness ordered this next week and if my son's friend doesn't come up with the money for those wheels, I will be retrieving them from the son's place...:uhmk: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Always cool to see an update on this thread. Flag and how you got it is awesome! I did a headliner in a VW bug with the Stars And Stripes once. Did you order the other wheels or is the sale of your old ones a clincher?
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Gotta move the other wheels first...:waah:
Rian is a great guy and when the Confederate flag issues started popping up here in the colonies, he enlightened me to the same type issues some in the UK have over the Cross of St George flag... |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Spent most of the weekend on the '72, but did get the spare tire mod ready for paint...:mm:
