Re: 1966 C-10 build
Got a wild hair to change a few items while doing the disc brakes and axle swap... thinking of these wheels
https://i175.photobucket.com/albums/...pscdburfhp.png got a new bumper from my buddy https://i175.photobucket.com/albums/...psls5hcgkd.jpg had to get a new front to match it https://i175.photobucket.com/albums/...psmqxqnwxr.jpg |
Re: 1966 C-10 build
Of course it takes a bunch of work to get the brakes to work right. the power brake unit from CPP along with the power steering unit and all the associated parts is allot of work..

Re: 1966 C-10 build
Thanks guys.
It didn't come cheap and it didn't come easy. But she's worth it. Now I need to convince her to stop smoking every time we go out. Its like taking out your best girl but you know she's a smoker.. Thinking of getting her the patch. LOL The new motor wont be done till next spring so we're gonna have to come to some sort of an agreement. Time to give her a bath and take her out for a test drive |

Re: 1966 C-10 build
Thanks everyone for the kind words. She still has quiet a ways to go but we are enjoying her as she sits right now.
We went to the Intervention this past weekend and had a good time. So many trucks it was overwhelming at times. Recognized a few trucks from here and chatted it up with as many as possible. Nothing but positive comments on the truck and a few offers to buy her as she sits.. Flattering but that's a HELL NO! still have lots to do to get her where we want her at so its little by little.. |
Re: 1966 C-10 build

Re: 1966 C-10 build
More work on the horizon:
I am convinced to replace the junk yard special small block that came with the truck to a robust BIG BLOCK... would go with another small block but hey!!! A man needs big toys to play with.. LOL Not quite sure what size yet but that will be governed by the over all price tag. also looking at a complete front suspension change over to possibly coil overs. love the lowered stance but want to be able to drive her everywhere without issues. Air bags might still happen but I'd rather not and just go with coilOvers if possible. Next will be a new transmission with OverDrive.. really need to be able to run her over 55mph. she hit 60 a couple times this past weekend but she was screamin. |
Re: 1966 C-10 build
Well the time has come... The ol' tired and worn out junkyard motor has got to go. I am actually gonna miss that old power plant for some reason. It was always a challenge that I just loved to make her run right. Oh well. Spent the last few weeks getting a good block, machine work, heads, rotating assembly, cam, intake and all the other fun parts to make a new one.. This weekend I will be in the back of the secret laboratory building a new mouse to put in the truck. Pics to come.

Re: 1966 C-10 build
Did you get a big block or small? Always something to do on our trucks...that is what makes it fun! Now if we had unlimited funds!
