Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off
Perfect!!!! Better than new in fact. Internally regulated alternator?
You probably are aware of this but be careful of the HEI when setting the tub back on the frame as clearance is real tight between it and the firewall. |

We'll definitely be on guard with the firewall, but I went with the Pertronix "stock look" distributor, so I'm hoping my tolerances will be close to original. |
Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off
I should look into that distributor - good idea. Did you use the aftermarket plug and play harness for an internally regulated alternator?

...well it's getting late, I'm away from home and the truck for the holidays (so unfortunately, I can't just go look at what's hanging in a bag on the wall)...and I've searched and searched and searched for a clear pic on the site (I don't have a before pic of mine that shows my set up)...and the attached pic is all I came up with. Borrowed obviously from elsewhere on the board, it appears to show a bolt through the shifter. I guess mine could have broken or been drilled out, but it sure does seem clean. I'm anxious to get home and look at my hardware...but I think mine may have come with a bolt hole and not a pin. Again, experts weigh in for me. They had at least three transfer case shift levers in two different finishes that year, so it stands to reason they might have had more than one shift link...Thanks for looking and speaking up Dwayne. There's just too much stuff to keep up with on these trucks. It definitely takes a village to build one... |
Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off
The t-case shifter should just bolt into place with washer as shown - there is a plastic sleeve that fits over the bolt IIRC but these are typically lost to wear and time.

Here's a pic from my K1500 - to my knowledge never removed by the original owner.

OK...I'm back home and got a few pics to post. First off, here's my TC shifter set up and I believe it to be a factory set-up. Instead of the two pin soldered set up as previously mentioned...and obviously different than later bent rod previously pictured...I've got a single soldered pin that goes to the transfer case side and then a loose pin through hole set up at the shifter side.

Started putting some of the factory markings back in prelude to the reunion of tub and chassis.

Copied member smbrouss70's St.Louis Blazer's trim markings since mine didn't have trim from the factory or obviously the corresponding marks. His was finished just a few weeks before mine...who knows the same guy might have penned both our trucks.

Even marked the back of the new cluster...had to post it...couldn't just hide it away. Tom (TBONE1964) may tell me I put it in the wrong spot for a tach dash...but it's just for fun after all. I even put Barbara's or Betty's or Bob's initial..or agent 13, whatever that mark on the lower left is supposed to be.
Edit: Sorry the red markings don't show up too well on the new cluster. |

This is a pic set I've been looking forward to forever...or at least since I saw member RackMan's beautiful rolling chassis...unfortunately, we're going to wait on the exhaust until the body is on.
