Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I promise I will get more work done than this. I sand blasted & painted the used headlight buckets & brackets I got from this forum. I also polished the stainless steel headlight rings. They look better than new now.

I'm glad I'm so far off the list because the crap I had to go though in the Navy is probably nothing compaired to what you guys can dream up.
Oh yeah nice looking lights. ;) Man those things look brand new. |

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
You still have all the old 3/4 ton stuff from the truck? I know you still have the wheels, but what about all the suspension, and the front crossmemebr spindles and rear axle and springs? Also you got any idea what the rear axle ratio is in the 3/4 ton rear axle?

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Yes, actually I am, if the price is right of course. I am trying to do a 3/4 ton conversion on a somewhat limited budget. (putting my daughter through college in Monterey, Ca.) Is the 65 rear end a 4.10?

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I sand blasted the power steering box, and painted it yesterday. I painted it with cast iron engine paint.

Ooohhhh pretty.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Next I drilled the frame to install the power steering conversion brackets. Of course I had to modify the install instructions, and they didn't give me the correct size bolts. Plus the kit was missing 2 bolts. On the lower bolt hole they want you to notch the frame so the bolt head would have clearance. Instead I screwed a grade 8 stud in the hole, and welded the inside of the bracket. It fit perfect without notching the frame.
