Got a present the other nite........new bags for the rear of the 'burb. Got re8's and necked them down to 3/8's line. I cant wait to see how much difference there is in ride and performance.

Friday nite went well.....bags installed and lines run. The truck is complete and driveable again:metal:......I will tear it apart when I finish my gauge mount and add the air gauge. Here are some pics:

First, a comparison just for fun....left to right. Slam air rs72(180psi), re7(200psi), and the new re8's @ 200psi. I will keep the re7 for a spare. I'm planning on driving this thing this winter.

The rest are pics of the bags going together and being mounted. Fairly self-explanatory.....on to the next project soon.

Why not the extreme 600 psi jobbers ??

Cool man...good job.

Although, the punched angle for the guages ??

Thats the stuff I use to hang garage doors with...;)

Awesome progress on the Burb!

Did you use the upper bag spacer so you didn't have to drill the frame? Sorry if I missed a previous post...

Yeah, thats the stuff....wondered where it came from. Just looked kinda 'hotrod' to me; like a drilled axle or something. Ever since I stuck the fat 15's on all I picture are drag/hotrod stuff on the truck.

When I originally did the bags I didnt know how they went together so I used them. I now know that people drill for the bag....cant say it looks fun to drill:lol:!! My axle goes down to the frame anyway.

Great looking burb.:metal: That screams hotrod.
I've enjoyed reading the thread.
I noticed on your back bumper the two dimples.

Is this a burb bumper or is it a fleetside bumper?
I have the same one on my panel but it is not chromed.

Not sure.....it was on it when I bought it. Ive been under the back a bunch lately and if its not a rear bumper, then its a front that has been on there for a long time 'cuz it looks old.

Thanks guys; its fun seeing it in a new lite. I had Slam bags in it before, I just bumped the rears to re8. I use re7's in the front. They ride killer. Those re8's eat a lot of air.

:agree: I still have to put the center caps on the wheels...just hadn't done it yet. I will be replacing the pass fender as its bondo....I have an old original that I have been slowly beating into submission and needs a lower patch. Drivers fender needs a patch too. Then on to a power plant!!

Thanx Mac....still trying to get it cleaned up a bit. Goodguys is coming up in November and thats what I'm shooting for as far as timeline. So far I'm looking good but time has a way of disappearing quickly.

Here's the fender I've been working on for awhile. This is when I first got it and it looks better now...no pics, but I thought I'd throw it in here anyway. I'm determined to have it live again:lol:

Here's the fender Ive been pounding on....getting ready to patch the lower corner. Still debating if its worth the work but I'm going to forge ahead.

Soaked and polished up the centercaps and bolted those on, too.

I think it is worth it to bring back the original metal, and it is nothing but experience for you

Centers look nice! :metal:

Got my leak fixed Friday nite. Yet to test, but I'm sure its good this time: much tighter on the fittings.

Another thing on the list is the stereo. I originally had a kick-butt stereo and have since robbed stuff for my DD. I didnt like my kick panels because the speakers set too low. I started making up new ones today....I'm able to get them going quickly 'cuz I use some plastic kick panels for the rough shape. I destroyed my old panels to get the wooden piece out and re-use it. I will be deleting the kick vents, too. I never found them useful except for blowing crap off the floor and into my eyes! Will glass them soon.

Searching for an engine also........

joe231 10-03-2009 09:07 PM

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics

Right on!!!
We are planning on deleting the vents also, the benefit of them is outweighed by the crud in the eyes factor
