As far as safety...the reflective properties and the lights in them help with visibility. And, like I said, I have to look at some stuff different than I used to. |
Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
The side markers became mandatory safety equipment around 1970. They are required for added visibility from the side. Today's cars have the curved lights so they have the required side marker lights. No way would the manufactures have put the extra expense into the side markers if they weren't required. You should consider putting some kind of side marker up front if you plan on doing any after dark driving.

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
thanx guys! i thot it was something concerning the shaved doors and actuators, i never planned not running a sidemarker and turn signal, a page or so back i mention flush mounting some, but i have to get some metal in there first ;) :D
|
Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
cool, I wasn't sure if you changed your mind.
You got me thinking about some flush mount LED's for the side markers......time to do some research ;) |

luckily the rust on the front and back glass havent broken through, simple leading will fix those, as you see, got the glass out, and got the doors farther along.. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSCF4349.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSCF4351.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSCF4352.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSCF4353.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSCF4355.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSCF4356.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...o/DSCF4358.jpg |

Looks good man. I can't give any advice. You are in an area that I know nothing about. That is why I'm paying such close attention.

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
Looks good Funk! You using Duraglas on first passes? Looks like it in the pics anyway. What progress did you make on the doors? More blocking?
BTW: your first link is missing a "t" www.ledtaillights.com |

driveway- yea, i am using the duraglass first, i use it over welded panels first cause bondo over welds is more likely to crack, and more body work on the doors, one was flimsy as crap, shrunk it a bit, and finished up the bondo work on it, one door had previous body work, just a bunch of dents covered by bondo, so i had to repull alll that! but its coming along well! |
Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
Try to catch the Duraglas before it hardens all the way. It's like sanding a rock once it is hard.

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
class was cancelled due to snow, did get the doors done yesterday, and one fender done, did get an entire truck bagged today tho :D
